Read on Hi Point's web site that this summer they will be introducing a 45 caliber carbine. Very interesting......

Yeah, they have been saying that for a while. I have the 9mm, and would love to get a 4595 but to be honest, with the cost of .45 ammo I will stick to 9mm for plinking.

It would be neat though.

It is great. $225, NIB from Cabelas.... no jamming and a very accurate shooter. Only 10 round magazine capacity, but the new stock is great!

go with the .40

Plinker's delight! Plus still a good round for handgunning... Probably will get the pistol soon.

From what I understand, this is a 'free beer tomorrow' thing. There has been a lot of anticipation of a Hi-Point 45 carbine, that's about it.

It's my understanding that the 9mm, thanks to higher pressures, benefits more from the carbine-length barrel than a .45. Would the carbine offer the .45 much more than a shoulder stock and longer sight radius for better accuracy?

I've heard no, unless you use +P ammo.

If Mech Tech ever makes their CCU for Springfield XD's, I'll have one in .45acp (and a lot of +P ammo) shortly thereafter.

But after that, why would anyone ever pick the 9mm over the 40?

That does sound cool, but I don't like not being able to convert it back to a handgun. That kind of kills the neatness of the package. I guess you could buy a second xD .45 and then have commonality of magazines, but if I'm going to spend the cash for the conversion AND have to give up a handgun permanantly, I think I'd rather just buy a dedicated carbine.

9mm is cheaper and more pleasent to shoot. In a carbine it the .40 might be OK, but the the snap recoil of the .40 makes it very unpleasent to shoot imo.

Sam: I'm pretty sure the Mech tech comes apart as esily as it goes together...

I don't mean to misinterpret you. Are you unaware of the legal issues at play here, or are you making a joke (i.e.: is this a way of saying that you have made a decision not to give credence to those issues)?

Interesting discussion on the matter going on at the moment: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=499708

This is from last year's Shot Show, and it's still not on the market. The big mother on the top. I have both a 995 and a 4095 HP carbines, but for .45acp I think I'd prefer a Marlin Camp Carbine. The HP 4595 just looks too damn big.

I'm actually thinking about getting another one. I trying to figure out why I sold mine, but I can't for the life of me understand why.

I guess Hi Point would rather sell the new 9mm stock configuration than put new stocks on the original model as they said they would, or until new sales slow down to where it's worth their while. Bummer! For a 9mm without the Spring loaded recoil pad on new ones, it has a kick to it. I want the new stock configuration in 9mm. I'm trying to keep ammo calibers down to as few as possible calibers. 7.62x39, 9mm, 12 ga, .22. Glad I stocked up on 9mm and 7.62x39 when it was cheap. I do want to see the 45 cal new carbine up close to look it over though.
