I live in NJ, and although I have secured my Florida CCW, it is impossible to secure same in New Jersey. Has anyone considered using the Full Faith and Credit clause in the Constitution to require New Jersey to acknowledge the reciprocity of an out of state CCW permit? Highly unlikely that NJ would ever pass CCW legislation on their own.

The FFC clause requires NJ to acknowledge that Florida has issued you a license/permit. That doesn't mean they have to allow you to do in NJ what FL lets you do there. In other words, it's not the FFC that hold the solution to your problem.

*BTW, it's not the full faith and credit clause that causes your driver's license to be honored by every state. That is based on volunatary reciprocity agreements between the states.

NJ CCW is rare, but not impossible to secure. I had a limited CCW for 4 years and have had an unlimited CCW license for the last 2 years.

At the very least, feel out your local officials before deciding you have no chance. You may be surprised, but sometimes there are reasonable minds in charge of your local government who will approve carry. Sometimes it's not that they're anti-gun but that the procedure is so foreign to them they don't want to do the work so befriending them can make them more willing to learn how.

I live in NJ and I've said it before and I'll say it again.

CCW's in NJ are like an honest politician in NJ or the Loch Ness Monster.

Much discussed, rarely seen.....:D

On a more relevant note this was a discussed topic in the law section, 3-5 days ago, search should dig it up

It will cost you about 50 grand if you want one. That is if the judge doesn't want more of a bribe than that. Remember NJ is a pay to play state.

It's real hard to use New Jersey and CCW in the same sentence. Kind of a oxymoron.

Even Payton Quinn says you are lucky to be born in any state.. except New Jersey.

On the Delaware Memorial Bridge, it is free to cross into New Jersey, but you gotta pay to leave. Why? Because it's worth it!!

I live in NY state and tried to get a simple FID card. The state police gave me such a run around I gave up. It appears pending legislation this year in NJ will all but wipe out private ownership of firearms. There is one bill pending which will stop all hunting-good luck.

The full text of the Full Faith and Credit clause of the Constitution of the United States of America (that is, Article IV, Section 1) reads:

"Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each State to the public Acts, Records, and judicial Proceedings of every other State. And the Congress may by general Laws prescribe the Manner in which such Acts, Records and Proceedings shall be proved, and the Effect thereof."

Meaning that Congress shall have the power to determine exactly how that clause is applied. The only problem I have now is finding exactly which part of the USC or CFR specifies that FFC does not apply to CCW.

Alternatively, I would also like to see citations of FFC applying to driver's licenses and marriage certificates...
