Promised I would do it and got it done finally! Retired my Sig P220 from 20 years of service several years ago and had to get something a little lighter. But 20 years left alot of holster wear plus a botched bluing job by someone who said they were qualified, she needed a little love. So borrowed a friends idea (with his blessing) and found a really good armorer and cerekote outfit. Had the armorer go thru and he replaced a couple of springs, I threw on some new grips. The finish is Black Cherry gun candy. The only thing left to do at some point is a new barrel and some new sights, but the big "overhaul" is done. Just picked it up today and am really happy with the way it all turned out. Top pic is before and then after.

Cool! Glad to see an old friend get some well-deserved TLC.

The finish has always been my least favorite thing about the P220-229 series guns. My P226 showed lots of holster wear on the slide very soon after I started carrying it. It ultimately went to Robar for Np3.

That new finish looks sharp!

Stay safe.

Like the new look! Sounds as if your old compadre was overdue for a makeover! Let us know how it does with a new barrel and sights.

I had a Browning BDA .45 (a.k.a. SIG P220), for a number of years and it was an outstanding pistol. Totally reliable, extremely durable, and capable of some truly amazing accuracy.

They are great shooting guns. Recently got an older one made in "W. Germany" that is in exc condition. Gobbles up my panty waist reloads with no problem.

I realize all the cool kids shoot 9mm but my favorite working Sig will always be the P220/BDA in .45 ACP.

Trivia Question: What was Crockett's primary carry in the Miami Vice Pilot Ep.? Browning BDA .45 ACP.

Looks great!

I wonder why you didn't opt for the Sig package that resprings and slaps new sights on it (I think they refinish if you want too)?

Hey Thanks, because they wont refinish the frame and they dont offer the cerekote color I wanted.
