HI all...lurking no more!

Hi, I am Rodrigo and currently in VA and I work doing corporate security and am a military vet. I unfortunately have been selling off my paltry collection because a new job as an LEO I am applying to won't let me have any firearms while I am at their Academy. So boo hoo. I am primarily a pistol afficionado, though I am more than competent with carbines, Shotguns, and Rifles. I own Glocks, Springfield Armory 1911-A1s, Berettas and Mossbergs.

Hi! My name is Kim and I live in Boston, MA. I've been shooting for about a year. I told myself I would limit myself to two guns (my Ruger Mark III and a S&W Ladysmith 9MM pistol). That didn't last too long. Now I am ordering a customized Ruger SP101 revolver from Gemini Customs in KY. So much for the self-imposed gun limit!!

Hi!

I live in Columbus, Ohio, USA and I've been here on THR for a couple of months now. I'm mostly interested in self-defense and political issues here. I consider myself an anarchist (of the left-wing variety), although my dogmatism has waned considerably over the last few years. I've joined the NRA, although my beliefs on firearms are closer to JPFO (I'd join their group if it weren't for the anti-Arab propaganda on their website).

Anyway, glad to be here and looking forward to more heated, but polite, discussions.

Hello, all. Cliff Morris here, living in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. I'm pretty much all long-guns, with a fair number of them being combinations (ergo, Combo); three over/unders and one drilling. We do mostly deer and turkey here for hunting and chase the brookies back up in the mountains in the springtime before the snakes take over.

Good day to everyone and glad to be here.

Hi, My name is Jim and I have a problem. With your help I hope to increase my addiction. :D

I currently own.
Colt 1911 A-1
Amt backup 45
Ruger Blackhawk 454 casull conversion
Ruger 77 35 Whelen Ak imp
Puma 92 454 casull
Remington 870 12ga
Remington 11-87 12ga
Browning BAR 308

Want just about every gun I touch. But seriously looking for single shot Winchesters and Rugers. I am a propane technician for money to feed my habit. I have a machine shop and wood shop in my wife's garage. Soon to be moved to a 20x40 slice of heaven if things go my way around tax time.

I have lurked for a good while and it is nice to see a mixed bag of nuts. I do think we could use a few less 9-11 conspiracy wackjobs. I belong to a few boards, but I am not a power poster. I have a full schedule and the Warden is constantly coming up with new and exciting adventures to volunteer me for!

Nice to meet ya'll. Hope it don't come down to shootin. But if it does I won't hesitate. "No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country.
He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country." Gen. Patton

Hello, I'm Mr. Ed.

Well, not really... I'm Jerry A. Goodson. I grew up in North East Texas (Texarkana/Atlanta area), but Benbrook, Texas (South West Fort Worth) is now my home.

I'm in the National Guard, and I've been mobilized since August 15, 2004. I went to Iraq for all of 2005, and when I returned, I stayed on active duty to train guard and reserve troops going to Iraq, Afghanistan, and other places abroad.

I start terminal leave on Christmas Eve, and beginning next year, I'll be working at Texas Tactical SWAT training facility. I'll also go back to work for my fire department.

I enjoy having a concealed handgun license, tactical shooting competitions with pistol, rifle, and shotgun, and I'm just now getting into distance precision shooting.

If there's anything more you could possibly want to know about me, I'm open to questions :)

Hello folks, My name is Larry, I've always liked rifles, problem was I couldnt afford them due to child support and alimony. Now all that is over:) . My mid-life crisis episode is to build up a collection, so far I have 2 M59/66 both purchased "unissued". along with a Saiga 7.62 x 39 and now I just bought a mini-14. Hope to get to know some good people in the forums.

Hi, my name is Andy. I like guns. (Hi, Andy)

I guess I've always liked to shoot. I started doing a little competitive shooting with the 4H/NRA program when I was 14. In my early 20's I bough couple center fire rifles, and though I would get back into a little competition, but with school I never had the time to dedicate to be competitive. At age 22 I had a wake up call situation and determined that I would become a LCH holder and bought my first defensive handgun (my mom and my older brother all got our first LCH's at the same time).

Fast forward, I'm now in my mid 30's, my wife and I have 5 kids, and shooting has become a relaxing pasttime. When people ask me why I have guns and go shooting, I say, "It's cathartic." I've never gotten an arguement. Hey, yoga just isn't for me. A year ago my wife of 10 years decided she no longer had an irrational fear of guns, bought herself a Kel-Tec P-11, and got her LCH. She has yet to fire it or carry it, but hey... baby steps. This summer I bought my boys (9 and 6-1/2) their first air rifle, and started shooting small bore silhouette at the local club.

At my wife's request I am deer hunting for the first time this season. Saturday was the opening of firearms season, and I carried a Ruger SRH .454 Casull.

Score: Deer 2, Kludge 0. (that's how many I've seen, not how many I missed). Two weekends left.

Mike from Arkansas and I grew up with guns all around me. I have traded and bought and sold several over the years and currently own a Walther P22, S&W Model 10, and yes I have a Hi-Point .40 and my wife a Phoenix Arms HP22A, several shotguns and rifles plus my muzzleloader and my almost 40 year old recurve but my favorite is my Bond 45/4-10 that stays loaded with 000 buckshot.

Well, ahoy everyone, the name's Chris.

I havent shot a gun before in my life and I'm hoping to learn alot from this here site. Shotguns, pistols, rifles I think my brains going to frazzle from all the possibilities out there for my first gun.

I am a generic gun nut. I find an intereast in a particular type of gun and shooting genre. I have gone through the Spanish American war, The Civil War, Etc. When I am into an area I read everything I can find and buy some of the guns of the era to experience what the people had to contend with. As a result I have a very varied gun collection. Right now my intereast is in the Texas Rangers. As a result I have purchased a Walker Colt by Armi San Marco. I really get a kick (literally as well as figuratively) out of shooting it. But, the cap particle problem is really stinging my butt. I also have a Remington, and 1851 Navy, and a 1860 Army. They all jam up with cap particles.

First Timer As Well

I've been one of those Lurkers for some time now, thought I'd finally say hey. Let's see, mostly a 1911 guy, been to Gunsight, do some hunting now and then. I come from a gun family, with my Dad being a collector/dealer. Still, never enough time or money to get all the toys I really want.

That's it in a nutshell. Always look forward to reading what is on here.

From South Dakota, but from the East originally. I like anything that shoots, really, but I've got a special place in my heart for the guns I grew up with and scary black rifles and 1911s.

Hey
My name is Anthony Castanza ( no relation to George ) My father was retired Air Force ( full bird) and retired in Montgomery Al. fortunately for me. Iv'e been shooting 1911's since my first one in 1973 ( a GI Remington Rand, wish I still had it). I got involded in benchrest about 1993 and love shooting that. My son's 12 month a year baseball has prevented me from shooting competitivly since 2000 when I managed to win the Sporter 200 at the Southest Regionals in Fayette Al. Oh well He's more important right now. He will be gone soon and Benchrest here I come. It will make you eat a lot of humble pie but I love the compitition. A great bunch of guys from all over the country. Col. Billy Stevens is here in Brundidge Al. if anyone needs a gunsmith for a rifle that will flat shoot. He won the Supershoot in 2005.
I shoot my 1911 .45's for fun, not in competition but the new one where you shoot stock guns sounds fun. Where was it when I could still see the sights!! Oh Well. I will probably try it sometime. I recently got an EMP and it is SWEET. Not a .45 but Sweet Indeed.
I work in Engineering at Baptist East Hospital here in Monkeytown. I'm 48, married with two great kids and the most wonderfull wife who puts up with me why I don't know, just glad she does.
Walkalong comes from my Boy Scout/Order Of The Arrow days when you had to pick an Indian name, thus "Walkalong"
Good to be a member and Read/Post about what I like to do--SHOOT!!!

Hi. I'm from northern Ca. I've shot cowboy action for about 6 years. I shoot blackpowder in that. I have a Springfield 1911 and have shot one Steel Challenge match with it. I'll probably get a .22 next for the steel challenge matches. It looks like I'll be out of luck for a while. I just got workd I have a torn rotator cuff. Talk to an orthopedic surgeon next. This is a really great website with lots of interesting topics.

Newish

I've been a member for almost a year, but was lurking for even longer.
I developed an interest in firearms late in life (mid 30's) when my dad decided to get a .357 S&W 60. He got his CHP and took me to the range. I've been hooked ever since and have delved into the sport/lifestyle with niave gusto and fervor.
There is not a gun forum I haven't visited and learned from. THR is the tops though!
Over the years I have gotten my mom to get her CHL, taken all my girlfriends to the range (range owner quips that I get a new firearm for every girlfriend or vice-versa!) and have studied and trained in my hobby/lifestyle.
I carry concealed everywhere all day every day. If I've got more than boxers on, I'm armed.
I started out with a Ruger P95, came to find out it was too big and heavy for everyday concealment. Added a Makarov .380 for everyday carry. It got stolen out of my locked glovebox while at work. (couldn't carry while at work).
Added a S&W .22 semi-auto for economy, 4" and a 7" bbl (interchangable barrels--one for practice, one for accuracy).
Added a Ruger 10/22 Stainless with scope.
Then added Bersa Firestorm .380 to replace the Makarov. (realized the manual safety was exactly opposite from what I was used to)

Then wanted a no manual safety and a bigger caliber, so I got an XD40.
Realized that the Bersa, Ruger, and XD were too bulky for pocket carry, and sometimes IWB even may print, so I got a Kel-Tec P3AT (2nd Gen).

Now I carry my XD40 or my Bersa in a tuckable IWB with my P3AT as a BUG when possible. But I ALWAYS have my P3AT on me, even if I'm wearing a bathing suit or pajama bottoms.

Welcome in Steve from OK.

Wander around.
Feel it out.
Sniff a bit.
Know that
if you stick it out too far
it could get cut off :what:

It's all good.
It's all just electrons.

Live 'n learn.

Werd up, yo.

;)

Howdy

Hello. I'm an 18 year old college student and, obviously, I can't own a handgun yet, but I am looking forward to it more than drinking once I turn 21 (I mean, if you want to you can drink when you're underage, you can't own a handgun). I'm a college student and my living situation doesn't currently allow me to own guns (I think they'd frown on my having a rifle in my dorm), but I shoot with relatives/friends and love it. I'm joining partly so that I can build my knowledge on guns and be more informed by the time I have my own place and can own a gun myself.

I think the first gun I buy will probably be a shotgun of sorts - I still need to look into that. The first hangun I'd like to own would be a .22 Ruger Single Six - cheap, reliable, fun. They're weak, but probably a good first handgun.

Anyway, howdy all. I'm looking forward to learning from you all.
