Hi all!
SwedishGuy, from Sweden.
Restrictive gun laws here.
Generally, after a test, you can get a "hunters wardrobe" that consists to up to 4 long guns (bolt action or semi automatic, bullets or shotguns) and if you can motivate it you may have 2 more long guns, i.e. 6 in total. Thus I have 2 shotguns - an over-under and a Remington 1100, one 308W, one 6.5x55 (both for big game such as moose) and two 22LR of which one is a ruger 10/22 TD and one is a Kricko competition rifle held on a hunting permit. In order to get 6 guns I had to think about the order in buying them as 4 guns are generally max allowed. (This is a long story but by interpreting our laws and some thinking it's possible to get 6 guns).
You may get additional guns if you partake in competition shooting and you may get hand guns if you participate in competition shooting and get good enough scores (you have to use guns borrowed from the local gun club, under their supervision, to get good enough scores).
The guns have to be stored in an approved safety box which is sturdy enough to whitstand most things besides a blow torch or a industrial circular metal saw.
About me, I'm living on a farm in the country side. I live in the vincinity of Stockholm and I have relatives in the Malmö area. I work in programming when I'm not farming. I'm 50+.
I'm both envious of the gun laws of the US and flabbergasted by all problems that arise from them.
I come to the fora mainly asking about technical things about guns. Also I'm interested in how one can reason around things such as home invasions. Using guns to defend one self in Sweden is a no-no but may be excused if human lives are acutely threatened.
PS: I hope you can excuse my spelling and grammar since english isn't my native language.
