Good Morning all! I happened across this forum while awaiting my pistol permit (CT). That was 2 months ago, and I'm still waiting... Anyway, I figured the time could be spent performing some research, which led me here. Based on what I hear from my resident trooper's office, I hope to receive word regarding the permit within the next 6 weeks, and hope to have the interview with the Seargent shortly thereafter.

I'm primarily interested in using a firearm for home defense, with the reasonable expectation that I'll never have to use it. After completing the required class, and taking advantage of a few practice sessions, I've discovered how much fun can be had at the range, so I hope to engage in recreational shooting as well. I'll only consider concealed carry once I can complete a comprehensive self-defense course; I truly believe that training emphasis should be on avoidance, de-escalation, and situational awareness first and foremost. Practice at the range can help sort out the rest. I also wouldn't dream of carrying without some form of insurance.

I'm sure I'll have many questions, but even as a newb I hope to be able to contribute something of value in return.
Welcome aboard!

Hello everyone!

My name is Mike and I'm a new member here.
I love bolt action rifles and I like to make them as accurate as possible.
I've also been getting into smaller caliber rifles just because it's awesome to see squirrels explode.
I'm in way northern California

Hello all. New member. The (semi) short and sweet... I grew up in NY in a military family, but my mother (no dad, he was a POS) has a lot of serious health problems so I was unable to continue the family tradition though I wanted to. I decided instead that I would pursue a law enforcement career. Then fate struck again and I suffered a bad work injury that left me unable to pass the entrance physical. So I've been in the construction trades which morphed into industrial mechanics and fabrication. We had moved to Virginia while I was in my teens, so I no longer have to worry about their gestapo restrictions except when I travel up there to visit. I don't own a large collection but I have most of the bases covered: an ar-15, a 12g pump, a lightweight snub 38 (for the lols), and a Glock 19 is my edc. I belong to numerous pro gun orgs: NRA, GOA, SAF, CCRKBA, Virginia Citizens Defense League, and The Liberal Gun Club. About that last one; I'm not a liberal, I'm independent, but I could not find a national independent pro-gun org when I looked. I will also say that I don't agree 100% with ANY organisation, but in the case of our gun rights, I feel it's best to still join anyway; strength in numbers.

Welcome to the board , but dude,, move to Alabama. In Jeffco, basically a background check and 7$ and you have a carry permit. On the line that asks type of pistol, put “unrestricted” and then you can carry any gun you want. Wow, that sounds like an awful process to get a cc permit

Long time reader, first time member. Have been reading posts for years during internet searches. Unsure why I never joined, as I am a long time member of several other forums. Enjoy casting and reloading, target shooting as well as plinking.

Just joined the site. Long time gun owner and casual shooter. Used to shoot a lot back in my younger days, but after a long time away from Firearms, I'm just now getting back into shooting. Just wanted to join a site to talk about guns and ask questions occasionally. What little bit I've skimmed over so far, this site seems to have a lot of knowledgeable guys so looking forward to reading a hearing your reviews and opinions.

Won a Remington Exp. 20 Ga. at a DU dinner a few weeks ago. Now I'm trying to learn everything I can about safely owning, shooting and caring for my shotgun. Already considering buying another one. Suggestions and tips welcome.

Greetings everyone, I'm Gegenspieler, a nickname earned due to my nature. I'm low key and rarely will you see me active anywhere. I read more than reply. I'm a hobby farmer, retired (7 years now) Captain with 22 years with the army.

Hi!
This thread is a place for new THR members to introduce themselves.

Tell us a little about who you are and what kind of gun stuff you're interested in!

I probably should have introduced myself before posting elsewhere... oh well. :)

I'm a resident of Washington (state), originally from Massachusetts. I went to college in Pennsylvania where I also started shooting regularly. I'm interested in historic firearms (especially those used by the US during WWII), defensive firearms, and things that are just fun to shoot. Current collection is... let's just say over a dozen. The most unusual is probably a Mossberg M42 (bolt action WWII training rifle). First firearm was a Browning Buckmark. I deliberately bought a 1911A1 on 9/11/11 just so I could say I did. My regular concealed carry is a S&W M&P 40 (full size).

I'm married, and my wife's tastes in firearms are entirely different from mine. :) She enjoys our Winchester 1300 Defender and her Ruger LC9s.

Welcome to THR Do you reload or planning to start?

Welcome to THR Do you reload or planning to start?

I've thought about it; one of my college shooting buddies reloaded and I did a few rounds on his gear. I save my revolver brass since it is easy, but don't bother chasing my other brass. Someday I might do something with it. At the moment I have a fairly high "spare cash to spare time" ratio, so I just buy ammo.

Hello and Greetings from Germany..

(and sorry for my bad English)

I came here while searching Loaddata for my Ought Six.
And I realized that there are some Blackhorse Soldiers here ?

I am a Hunter and I reload for my Boltaction in .30-06 Springfield.
For hunting i use 150 gr. copperbullets and for plinking cheaper stuff.

New, old member. I was a member of thehighroad way back before the .org and .us split under a long lost user name and a dead e-mail account.

Been out of the shooting sports the last few years, but I'm getting back in with a 10/22 silencer host build and an AR308/DPMS based build and trying to track down a decent rifle range around Pittsburgh.

Hi all!

Welcome aboard ... or welcome back! Pittsburgh native myself, although that was a long time ago. Go Stillers!
