Hello all! Glad to join this forum. Since I'm stuck here in the People's Republic of New Jersey, I need all of the help I can get! I recently got back into shooting after quite a few years without enough time for another hobby. Finally back in and I'm glad that I did.
Having been born in NJ and having bought my first handgun in NJ, I can feel for ya! (Although I bought my Python 45 years ago, I can't imagine it got any easier or smoother.) I moved to Fla in 1975 and bought my second handgun by filling out the 4473 and handing over the purchase price. And, you know, there weren't bodies all over from shooting victims, there were no school lockdowns, not one single gunfight on Main Street at high noon.

Let's see, the guns are the same, essentially, other than a lot more plastic today. AR-15's were available to the public in the same configuration as now, Smith had the model 59 out with a "more than 10 round magazine and yet no carnage. What's changed. Why isn't someone looking into that aspect?

Oh, doesn't make headlines. Got it.

Your bowling average?

Just joined.Great sight with so much info.Fifteen years ago my family bought me an Investarm .50 cal Hawken replica( Italian). Pretty rifle and shoots fine and got back into shooting it this year after a 5 year break.
Lots of bad info -Cabelas,youtube( guy working on rifle with channel locks). What I found interesting was that such a simple tool ( our ancestors opened up the country without the help of Dawn detergent and bore butter( they probably would've put it on their bannock). Good info comes from guys like you that actually field test it. I'm 71 and been out hunting since Oct 1 bow, rifle ,muzzleloader (retired-got no life-heh,heh.) good until Dec 31. Missed a nice young buck with bow ,hit a branch-sigh. Having a great time going back out tomorrow.Big freezing rain and snow yesterday. walked 4 miles yesterday and not one track. They'll be hungry and maybe be out tomorrow morning.Used to go to a family deer camp in northern Ontario(Canada). We hunted with hounds(exciting ) but the deer were always in a hurry. I'v shot 5 deer (3 running ) and one black bear (30/30 Winchester lever).Nice to connect with people that are based in reality.
Cheers. Jerry

Welcome Jerry!
I'm a smokestick fan myself, started with a T/C Seneca, then added an import Hawken copy and finally a T/C Patriot pistol.
Welcome to THR.

I'm new here as well, ex-mil looking for reloading tips, supplies ideas/locations and general fellowship. I live in Southern Ohio along the Ohio River Between Marietta and Huntington WV.

I have a small collection of firearms , nothing exotics or special and i want to start shooting more next year, i plan on building a small range on my land(if you live nearby, in the area or passing through you all are welcome to come and enjoy yourselves) but this winter I am focusing on shotgun reloading(12/20g). I just purchased my FIRST reloader(Lee LA II), scales and Lyman 5th edition shotshell handbook).

So why the me.bership.. I have NEVER reloaded, I'm finding that locating reloading materials is challenging and I would really like to meet up and be a student to a master or at least find some amuck to help me out().

I am an old, retired and a damn honest fellow.. if I can help any member I would do it and if you are ex-mil(even you red crayon eating buns, lol) you ARE ALL WELCOME, the coffee pot is on and the welcome mat is out.. let's be grateful for friendship and blessed that we live in the best damn country in this world.

Welcome Mr. Cheese. Or can I just call you Chuck? ;)

Ex MP 984 MP Co many years ago, 164th in Germany til medivacced. ETS at Walter Wonderful in DC.

As for your reloading questions, any data I'd have would be like trying to fix a computer with vacuum tubes, I haven't reloaded (and therefore updated my books) Since the mid 70's when I went in the Army.
However, there's tons of knowledgeable folks on here who will more than be glad to help.

Like you, I'm old, but only tired, still working 50+ a week. I manage a local pawnshop here.

As for obtaining supplies, you can't even ship primers without hazmat shipping license. Having folks ship it who do have he license is expensive. They act like you're trying to ship explosives or something!

Once again, welcome and hope you find all the info you need.

Hello everyone. I thought I would introduce myself and see if I knew any old friends from around the web. For those that don't know me, I am a somewhat green machinist and somewhat seasoned gunsmith (fixer) and I dabble in a bit of everything outdoors and southern. I am an enthusiastic about most things that go bang, including but not limited to: Glocks,1911s, AKs, and ARs. I take an interest in emergency preparedness, wilderness survival, and such as well, and I'm sure you'll see me in the areas of the site dedicated any of these things.

Look forward to disagreeing with the fine folks here.

Hello everyone, new here and don't really do forums till now. I hail from central Maine where the woods is still plentiful and the deer bear and moose are big ;0 Build and shoot Savages as well as hunt and handload, in that order. Hope to make some friends and learn more about everyone. Don't mind me if I'm not forum PC this is a new endeavor...Woods

Came aboard to learn more about reloading setups. I'm from Mizzou and an avid shooter. Been shooting sporting clays and 5 stand for 25 years and love going to the range. Glad to be here to soak up some knowledge.

Hello THR, I guess I’m the newest guy here. I’ve been lurking for a little while though. I wanted to join up to access some of the photos and add to the conversation. I grew up with shotguns and rifles, but got into pistols about six years ago.
I absolutely love to reload. I may like it more than shooting....well, it’s atleset a tie.
Any ways, glad to be here.
David

Although I have been shooting and reloading for about 60 years, this is the first forum I've joined. I am a rifle shooter with only a few handguns. I really enjoy shooting and loading for my old rifles. WW1 and older rifles that have the mystique of unknown history are a real treat. I know I don't really own them, just preserving and caring for them until time to pass them on. My dad started me out with three rifles that really covered all my needs-a Winchester 69A 22lr,a Winchester 1894 in 30 WCF and a Remington 721 in 30-06 Improved. Of course, all three are still in the safe and get shot often. His first gen. Colt Woodsman came to me later. I load for about 15 calibers. Not a collector,I shoot every gun I own on a regular basis. Not much time to hunt but I do get to the range often. Looking forward to being a part of this group.

Hi my name is Doug . I’m a retired army sergeant and retired from our local sheriffs department. I collect American Military surplus Rifles. I also collect license plates. Thanks for having me and I wish everyone a Merry Christmas

Same here. Seem like a great place to share info and our affection for guns.
Into small arms presently. Newly retired and presently have a small collection of 1 revolver and 2 semi autos. Getting back into shooting after 35 yr hiatus. One Snub 38, one 9mm, and a 1911. I hail these days from Olympia,WA.

Greetings everyone from SW Mississippi and the SW MS Gun Club. New member here. Recently purchased my 1st cap and ball revolver and I’m already having issues. Looking forward to expanding my firearms knowledge through this forum.

Hi all. I'm a new member. Just discovered this site about a week ago from a link on The Firing Line forum where I'm a long time member. This looks like an equally good forum to hang around some.

Hello! I just joined THR after lurking for a while. Just recently purchased my first personal gun (not a new shooter and I have some hand-me-downs) and I'm looking to get equipment and reloading advice and share my experiences if they're helpful to anyone else like me.
