I finally made an account about 30 minutes ago, always found myself on threads here regarding questions I had anyway so I figured I may as well finally make an account. 22 y/o, Northeast Florida, big 2A supporter and love all things firearms whether they're the "scary black gun" or a percussion cap muzzleloader, and everything in between lol. Always been a deer, squirrel and rabbit hunter but starting to chase hogs now. Seems to be some nice people on here hope I can keep up!

I've been lurking for a couple of weeks and decided there are a bunch of great people posting here. I favor the older metal handguns and have accumulated a bunch of S&W Gen3 in 9mm and .40S&W. I'm looking forward to sharing with other members.

Hello There Everyone!

I have lurked around this site for a while and finally figured I should bug everyone I can! I come from a long line of hunters, but lost that heritage from my dad to my brother and I. He was always a better hunter than anything else. That being said I have set out on my own to try to learn a thing or two from folks who know a thing or two! Happy to be hear.

Mike

Let's see, I'm a new member, I like long guns mostly, my favorite is my sharps sporter rifle, which was bought by my grandfather's grandfather (who ran guns and money to the fenians in Ireland) in 1878, just 2 years after coming to this country. The thing will still shoot as good as any gun I've ever fired, and I hope to give it to my grandchildren's grandchildren. I do a little bit of gunsmithing just for fun, and am slowly acquiring more tools for this.
Hi!

Hello from San Antonio, TX. I’m a former member just getting started again here.
My interest over the years has mostly been handguns, but I have recently developed an interest in centerfire rifles.

I don’t know how I created the post above this, quoting others. It was inadvertent.

Hi guys and ladies too, My name is Kevin, I'm happy to now be a part of this community. I'm a plant operator here in Louisiana. Well, I'm up to just about everything in guns...from shooting, to reloading, and collecting. Like I said, glad to be here!!!!

So i guess i need to post in here in order to be able to ask a question in the other forums? Cool so new member and guns are cool. So yea thats about all i got for now.

I am a new member.

My interest in guns started when I was a boy. Currently, I possess a CCP and use it properly in a dangerous world. My shooting is presently nearly weekly exclusively at targets at an indoor range. I have several decent pistols including 1911-style weapons in 9 mm. I prefer all metal pistols with decent triggers, and I have a couple of variants on the theme. I am learning a bit about guns (the hard way) with a project gun, a Browning Hi power clone.

Hi guys - I'm from Southern Indiana. My favorite gun I own is a 1980 Colt Python snubnose. Looking from a collector standing point for tips and pointers. See you on the forum.

Hello from Loveland, CO

Just wanted to say hi. I've been a ghost on the forum. A lot of the stuff I google comes to here and you guys always have great information! So thought I would join the community. Pretty new to reloading. 2 maybe 3 years now? Still single staging. Started with .223 and now a lot of 9mm. Thinking of going to .40 too. Also debating on purchasing the lee turret press. I only plan to crank out maybe 600 a month. So I don't think I can justify a progressive and have read similar stories here which make me think that is the best route. Thanks for all the help already.

Hello, I'm a fairly new member and a 66 year old Navy veteran. Joined a few weeks ago because I had some reloading questions. Got some great responses and advice. Thanks to all who helped out. Mostly a handgun guy. I'm a concealed carrier and like to shoot GSSF, USPSA and Steel challenge. Hoping to try IDPA sometime this year. I also like trap shooting.

Hello, I'm a gun-nut and hunter. Elk hunting is my passion but I hunt everything I can draw a tag for in my home State of Wyoming. Looking forward to hearing from the resident experts. I'll contribute what I can. Thanks for having me.

G'day.
I am from North Australia. We have various ferals here to shoot, Buffalo, wild horses, donkeys, pigs, dogs, cats to name a few. I have just started to reload for a 264 win mag, 300 win mag and a 375hh. I enjoy reading about rifles and enjoy shooting them more!!
Cheers to you all.

Signed up a month ago and been lurking to learn more and so research. Picked up my first firearm ever this past Friday, a S&W M&P .22lr compact. Still have not been to the range yet with it, already stockpiled a small amount of ammo and bought extra mags for it already.

Once I take on a new hobby I can get a little crazy, so this will be im sure one of many I'll have. Bought this one mainly to shoot at the range and probably once I get a CWP to carry while hiking alone in the woods around Tampa Bay, Florida.

I'll probably be an odd gun owner as I like modern semi auto pistols over revolvers but like the look of WWII style rifles over an AR15

Hi all! I am from Ontario Canada. I enjoy all hunting adventures. I have a few long guns, new and not so new. I have a few hand guns new and ... not so new. I enjoy reloading pistol and rifle. M/L .50 is a passion as well. My newest find is a S&W 41 pictured in my avatar I guess is an early 60s model. Smooth as it gets. :)

Hello brothers and sisters. My name is Chris and I'm from Minnesota. I build custom firearms, chassis', stocks, and other firearm related accessories as a hobby. I also build and restore 4x4, 6x6, tracked vehicles, boats you name it. Career wise, I work in technology... mostly investment type stuff and I often work with the federal and public sectors. I've also started a site called utreadudead.com where you can scan your state for both pro and anti 2A laws and share your findings on social media to which I'll be share on the activism threads. Hoping this community can help give me some feedback on the site. It's 100% free. All feedback is welcomed.

Feel free to hit me up with any questions. Glad to be a part of the forum.

G'day
My name is Shane, from and living in the amazing state of Tasmania which is the island below mainland Australia. 53 working as a nurse, mainly in hospitals in Hobart. I am into Triumph Motorcycles and have three, a Thunderbird, Tiger 800XC and a Tiger Sports 1050. Shooting is another of my hobbies, and I would probably only have three or four if it were not for having to learn about what is available due to changes forced upon us after a mass shooting in 1996, where the shooter with a mental disability performed better than a lot of military personnel would have.

I love my Lee Enfields, and their derivatives, my favourite despite being heavy is a No4, made by Longbranch in Canada, which I have put an XS systems scout mount on, this allows for me to use the iron sights, a scout scope and with an adaptor a normal scope on the rifle. I have an Australian Lithgow with Air Force stamps on it as a spotter in 303-270 (303 British necked down to the 270) as my deer rifle, and a few others that I just love shooting. On the more modern front I have a Thompson Dimension, with barrels/calibres in 204 Ruger, 223 Remington, 6.5 Creedmoor (this hasn't arrived yet from the US), 7mm08, and 308. I love the concept of a single rifle with different bolts that can take multiple calibers, this works quite well when you need to ask permission for every rifle, but not the barrels.

I have a trusty Marlin 336, which is my short range brush/bush gun, and I really enjoy the lever action rifles for pointing and shooting. I have a pistol endorsement on my licence and go to the local pistol range every month or so to have a shoot, here we can only use handguns for target shooting, the concept of self defence is frowned upon and certainly not allowed with firearms for mere mortals by those who must be obeyed.

I have just got myself a Ruger American Predator in 223, as its going to be my wallaby gun, and I was wanting to see how the Rugers performed after being severely disappointed by the action of the Gunsite Scout. I was probably spoilt by the Lee Enfield action, and found the Ruger to be not what I hoped for and gave up on them. Since then I have also go a M77 Compact in 7.62x39, a very nice little deer rifle and my partner will be using it when she has her licence. I like that I can use the same projectile on this as I can on my Lee Enfields in 303.

I am going to try to improve my shooting skills, by getting into longer range shooting, out to hundreds of metres initially then 500+ then hopefully 1000. Something that I enjoy is self improvement. I have gotten better as a motorcycle rider by working on my riding skills. I am looking at getting a better marksman by learning as much as I can about the trade, something that I will enjoy doing, and something to help me be a better hunter.

I am a bit of a tragic with the Dimension, and am looking at getting a second rifle, and having a couple heavy longer range barrels done up. 204 Ruger is a great calibre so I am looking at a longer heavier barrel in this calibre, and I am tossing up between 6.5 Creedmoor & 7mm08 as my heavier barrel long range shooting barrel. I spent some time in the Army Reserve, then the permanent Air Force here in Australia, so most of my shooting there was at man sized representative targets out to 300m.

So between work, sleep ( I work night shift all the time), having a life and other commitments I am looking to learn the theory of longer range shooting, what can work against me and becoming a better shot. My goal from joining this forum is to be able to read comments from the group, make comments and learn.

Cheers & have a great week.

Hi, I'm new to The High Road, but not new to shooting or to forums. I started hunting in the fall of 1963 (rabbits, with a 16 ga. Mossberg bolt action with PolyChoke) and bought my first rifle (post '64 Winchester model 70 in 30-06) when I turned 18. My first handgun (New Model Blackhawk in 45 Colt) came on my 21st birthday, and I've been hooked ever since. Avid metallic cartridge handloader also.

Be Blessed! Jeff

Hello from south central Ohio! New guy on here... Don't have time to hunt like I used to, or much of anything else for that matter. Used to do a lot of handloading for rifles, but too many houses around where I used to shoot. Slowly getting into handguns. Mostly for carry, some just for fun. Have mostly Sig 1911 stuff and recently fell in love (infatuation maybe?) with 38 Super. Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your forum!

Hello all! I'm new here and wanted to say hello! i've been around firearms fairly frequently for the last 5 years I do a bit of instructing when I get time. mostly friends who are new to the idea of having firearms, and mostly pistol with a little bit of rifle thrown in if they ask. I carry a Sig P250 every day. i've been training with it for 4 years.

I look forward to the discussion!

New to this forum but not new to guns/shooting. Retired big city cop (LAPD), former Pistol Team member and Academy Forearms Instructor, fired in a lot of pistol matches and have written a number of articles in the past for gun magazines. I currently live in CA but my wife and I just bought a plot of land in Mesquite, NV (Del Webb), and as soon as our new home is built we will pull up stakes and start our new life far and away from the hell that CA has become. Looking forward to meeting old friends on these boards and finding new ones as well. PS: also USMC 62-66, stationed at MCAS Yuma as an Air Traffic Controller.
