I'll be the voice of dissent on this one. The guy might be, or might not be, a wacko. There is too little info available in that article for me to make that call. If he does have a long history of threatening neighbors and other folks, and is a paranoid personality, living in his "fortress" - then I have no problem with them disarming him...at least for awhile. He should certainly have the right to seek evaluation and treatment...and perhaps get his guns back if not adjudicated as mentally ill. I believe that the occasional wacko going off and shooting up the world is far more harmful to lawful gun ownership than Maryland LEO's. Owning a gun doesn't make someone my brother - Charlie Manson owned guns...so what...fry him. There are bad people who own guns. Every gun board comment I've read about the Columbine shooters (or any other nutcase shooter) who had a history of menta illness and violence, asks why the lunatics weren't stopped before they committed their crimes, '"Where were the cops when they were threatening this or that...". This story could be an example of something that worked out right for a change - I don't know. As I said, there is too little information to make that call. If someone can provide information that this guy was a normal person who simply collected guns, and has been unfairly set up by the JBT's, I'd love to read it. Concerning the rest of the article, I'd have to say that the cases seem fairly legit.. on the surface anyway. I have ZERO sympathy for straw purchasers who knowingly sell guns (at a huge mark-up) to those who can't purchase them legally...and particularly to known criminals.
