I'm looking to upgrade my sights. I want either a tang sight or a receiver sight. I'll be shopping through Midway and price really isn't a big concern. It's not that I'm Mr. Moneybags, but they are all around $100.
My Marlin is new and chambered in 45-70. My main uses will be plinking, target shooting, hunting, and I might use it in CAS (but that is a lesser need at this point.)
I have a receiver sight on my Winchester '94 and it is great. For some reason, I really would like to have a tang sight on the Marlin. The Marbles has really caught my attention, but I'm open to the Lyman as well. Also, if you think I'd be better served with a receiver sight, feel free to pipe in.
Here are my concerns with the tang sight...
1. Ruggedness
2. Am I going to have to drill a new hole, I don't really have access to a gunsmith at this time?
3. Existing sight. Is it going to have to be removed like my reciever sight on my '94? Not really a big deal, but I'd like to order a sight blank to fil the empty space if it is necessary.
