This month's American Rifleman has an advert on the back cover for the Taurus Model 63 .22 rifle. It looks a lot like the Winchester .22 semi-auto.

Anyone have one of these yet? It's just now coming available.

I've checked them out at the Taurus web site, MSRP is $295.

All in all, I'm thinking SERIOUSLY of getting one of these.

Don't have one.....

but I saw it on Taurus' website.
The stainless would make a nice all-weather plinker:)

One thing that bothers me a bit...in their advertising hype, Taurus claims the model 63 is a Browning design:eek:

It was designed from the model '03 auto, which was designed by the same guy who did the '05, '07 and 1910 Winchester, as well as most of the work on the 1911 Winchester autoloading shotgun....

Taurus must have......

the Brazilian copy-writers in Porto Allegre doing the hype for the website...and mixing Portugese and English as well as models.

Either that or the new "semi-auto pump action" will be a landmark design in .17 caliber rifles:D

Mike,

If I was in the market for another .22lr rifle I'd consider one. It would be nice to have a semi-auto .22 that wasn't just like what everyone else has (and I mean pretty much everyone has a Ruger 10/22, or Marlin 60, both in my "collection", or a Remington 597). Even though I really don't need another .22 rifle I may get one in the next year or so anyway.

MSRP on the blued .22 LR is $295, my shop is offering to get me one for $235.

I'm giving SERIOUS thought to it. I need a plinker.
Mike if you do it, please stop by TaurusTalk (see my sig line) to report on it.

Chaim,

No problem, more than happy to run a write up for you.

I want to look one of these over really well.

I don't know why, I usually don't take much interest in rifles other than Savage 99s, but when I saw that on the back of the Rifleman I was REALLY smitten.

I'm heading to a gun show in a couple of weeks, maybe I'll see one there.
