Just had tell somebody, I found me a nice Model 10 at the gun show today and got it for $210 out the door. I thought that was pretty good, don't know the vintage, serial c 741xx if anyone would be so kind as to look it up for me, I'd greatly appreciate it. It also came with a decent leather duty holster. It was a retired police trade in.

Sounds like a fantastic find. With a "C" prefix and five-digit serial number, it looks like you may actually have an older, more desirable post-war M&P. Please post some pictures.

C741XX - 5 digits SN, 1948 - 1951 according to SCSW, so unless you are missing a digit you have a M&P, or a pre-10 if you will - Smith didn't start numbering the models until 1957. Why can't I find post-war Smiths for $210? If its in decent shape you got one hecka of a deal.

That's good news. Something that seems pecular to me is that in the crane area there is no model number, just the letters E 5 , then the numbers 15493 on the frame and the crane.

Those are factory assembly numbers, all pre model numbers S&Ws are like that. $210 for a post war, pre 10, M&P is a great deal. You've got one of the finest revolvers ever produced.

I don't have any pictures taken yet. I'll post some soon. It has a little holster wear at the front of the barrel and on the cylinder, but I like it and it will make a great shooter for me. Thanks for all the info.
