Hello THR members!

I've read this board off and on for awhile, but today I finally decided to register and let my ignorance be heard! :D

I currently own two shotguns: my old '95 model Winchester 1300, (26" barrel, 5-round mag), and the gun I like better than any other I own; the Russian beast: my Saiga-12, (19" threaded barrel, removable mags of various capacities).

I admit that I may be a bit biased, but I love my S-12. Imo it's the most capable and effective combat shotgun available to civilians period.

Of course I've restored my S-12, i.e. given it a proper pistol grip with a proper AK trigger group, AK trigger guard, internal receiver block, folding stock, Polychoke II, Krebs combat S-12 peep sights, etc, etc, etc... I've spent significantly more on aftermarket parts and mags than the stock gun cost, and I don't regret it.

As I said, my S-12 is my favorite gun, hands down. There's just something about dumping 12 rounds of 12-gauge shells in a couple seconds that can't help but put a big ole smile on my face. :D

Now, my question... who else here also owns and knows the beauty of Saiga-12's? I'm looking for some kindred spirits here.

Welcome...

I like the Winchester 1300... If yours has survived un-modified.

Thanks for the welcome. :)

Yeah, my Win 1300 is completely stock. It's a pretty nice trap/sporting shotgun, I think. It has walnut furniture, a jeweled bolt, and came with 3 Winchokes, which are easily interchangable. The pump action is slicker than snot, (one of its major advantages over the equivalent Remington model).

So I'm guessing that you don't own a Saiga-12? We need to remedy that! ;) They're only ~$550 for the stock "sporter" model, (which works just fine), and you can restore one to use a proper AK pistol grip, trigger group, and stock for ~$200.

If you need more convincing, find someone who has one, and fire a dozen rounds or so through it. It really is a uniquely effective shotgun that you can't help but appreciate.
