I just picked up a very sweet .22 rifle. Have you guys ever seen one of these? It's an MAS 45, a trainer built on a Mauser design. From what I can figure out (mostly by translating a french website), they were designed in Germany at the end of WWII for the French and later the tooling was moved to the MAS arsenal. Anyone with any knowledge of these rifles? I would like to find out how old it is. I don't know how long they continued to make these, but this one is in excellent shape. This makes me think it can't be very old. Serial number is F 29558. If anyone has information, I would really appreciate it.
Heavy sucker, weighs about 8.5 pounds. Very stout barrel. Haven't really had a chance to shoot for groups, since the wind was blowing about 20mph all day today.....hoping for calmer weather tomorrow to see how she does at 25, 50 and 100 yards.
