New walnut K31

I glommed several Swiss rifles at auction a few days ago, including this walnut stocked K31.

Several of the K31's being auctioned, including the one I nabbed, had stickers on the handguard which I've not seen before. I've since learned that they are competition stickers. I'll post better pics when it arrives.

I don't know how to tell you this, boy, but somebody done lied to you. That thing's not new. But I tell you what - I'll make it right for you. How's about I take that old thang offa your hands? I'll give you just what ya paid for it, that way you're not out any money, and you can go on down ta Big Five and get a nice new rifle from them.


That thing is beautiful. I have a 1934 walnut stocked one with some stickers in other locations. Lots of fun to shoot.

Get as much GP11 ammo as you can. A W+F diopter is a wonderful addition as well.

Get as much GP11 ammo as you can. A W+F diopter is a wonderful addition as well.

I've got a fair supply of the GP11. My sons and I use it in the vintage "long-range" (300 to 800 yards) military matches at our range. It works great. I used some at one of the matches a few weeks ago and managed to finish upper mid-pack, shooting the iron sights in a class that included scoped military rifles.

My sons and I also shoot a vintage military rifle silhouette match on steel at ranges of 220 to 550 yards. FMJ is not allowed on the silhouette range, so GP11 is out for that match. I've developed a decent handload with IMR 4064 and bullets in the 168-175 grain range for that match. In fact, my son was the overall match winner last weekend with his K31.

My information is that this rifle was used in the final round of an area championship match in Olten, Switzerland, in 1989.

I hope that the intervening owners, if any, didn't fool around with this rifle trying to "improve" its accuracy.
