Hi, I'm a new gun owner looking to expand my knowledge
of gun safety and what makes a gun work.

I saw a book on Amazon.com titled "Essential Guide to Handguns: Firearm Instruction for Personal Defense and Protection." Is this a good start or does
someone recommend something else?

I realized I need to do some reading when I went to buy ammo for my Walther P22 at WalMart. I had no idea what I was looking for.

Fortunately, I have learned a lot more and shot a lot more since then.

I appreciate any help you can give.

Thanks.

Boston's Gun Bible, by Boston T. Party aka Kenneth W. Royce. Amazon has it, but you can always find a copy at the local gunshow.

One of the first books I bought, and I still dip in to it from time to time. Not only does it cover guns, but a whole lot of other stuff. Worth every penny.

I got more on the mindset of a 2nd amendment defender from Boston's Gun Bible than anything else, and it is very good for that.

I went ahead and bought "Boston's Gun Bible" as it seems to be the general consensus that it is the best choice if I must have one book.

However, I would also like to get "You and the Police." I think I could have used that book a long time ago.

Anyway, thanks for the help everyone.
