Newer Combat Elites?

Does anyone have any experiences with the newer Colt Combate Elites that are based off of the XSE model? I've heard mixed reviews about it on other sites. Some peopel say they're great and other run them down the road. I don't know how much of the negatives being said or just people repeating what they've heard or what. The issues I've heard are the rails of the frame not being perfectly parallel and wearing on the sides of slide.

Does anyone around here have any experience with these newer Combat Elites? I'm looking to get one...if I can find one. Nobody has one around here and most of the dealers can't even order them. I'm just trying to decide if it's worth the cash.

I have seen a few of the early ones where the dust cover rubbed the slide a bit. It is from the rails in the slide being machined off center a few thousandths. It was a known occurance with the newer Colt XSE's and 1991's but I'm pretty sure last year sometime Colt finally got tired of people complaining about it and fixed their CNC program. I bought a brand new Combat Commander a few months ago and it dosen't have the problem. None of the Colts I have seen manufactured in the past year do.

Overall the (XSE) Combat Elites are very nice pistols. I have the oportunity to buy one right now (NIB) and was quite impressed with what I saw. Definatly worth the price of admission, which is about $950-$1100 on the 2nd hand market right now.

You can't find one right now because people bought them all up in the past 2 yrs as they are a limited prouduction gun and it's not in prouduction this year. I'm sure Colt will prouduce some more in the future - but not in the near future.

BTW, the current limited prouduction gun being manufactured at Colt is the "Special Combat". Check one out, easier to get (quite a few on Gun Broker) and it's close enough that it may interest you.

I'm not having luck finding "quite a few" on Gun Broker. I'm justing seeing about a handful. Just 3 or 4 more than the Combat Elites on there.
