Just came here to post that!

I am also quite interested in this. I have actually posted on THR more than once that a 1911 straight-pull trigger and super-clicky safety combined with CZ (or Tanfoglio) grip ergos would be fantastic. Bore axis does look a little more 1911 than CZ (slightly higher)... maybe necessary to fit 1911-geometry fire control parts.

I was honestly googling 9mm 1911 vs CZ during lunch, popped on to Facebook to see what’s up, and this was at the top of my feed. My first thought was “well I guess it’s decided!”

I haven’t seen a release date yet, and I’m not finding any mention of it yet by reviewers

Me too, just get rid of the rail, or at last have a no rail option. Great idea.
It does make it look a bit toothy doesn't it?
10mm would be even better.
YES!

I find it a little funny that this gun may represent somewhat stiff competition for CZ's competition guns. I mean I know they are aiming at Tanfoglio, but it's a little ironic. CZ now chooses to compete with itself.

Since it's a SAO gun, the only thing it would really compete with in USPSA would be the TSO for limited division. It won't be legal for production or carry optics. Might potentially be relevant in the iron-sighted 3Gun divisions, though that's not a game I really know.

I would have to at least hold and preferably shoot one before forking over that much money. I like the concept though. I have been saving up and looking for an affordable used doublestack 1911 in 9mm. This would definitely be worth taking a look at but not much chance I would find one out in the wild around here even after they are released.

The CZ75's I have shot (not that many) where fine for a carry gun but the triggers were no where near my 1911's triggers. I wonder what the factor trigger weight will be? I expect a 1911 smith would be able to tune the stock trigger some but the lack of after market parts would be a negative. I have the original triggers for my 1911's stowed away after they were replaced and tuned by a gun smith that knew what he was doing.

I won't even ask if the chamber is strong enough and supportive enough to shoot 9mm major rounds.

That's the point.

(Although if all you have done with CZ's is grabbed a base model with no trigger job, that does not come close to giving you a sense of what they can be.)

Yes, I realize that is the point. :) I have a CZ75D compact but it doesn't make sense to me to have a target trigger in a carry gun... they are kind of 2 different breeds... so I have never pursued a trigger job for my compact.

It is pretty hard to find the fancy guns around my neck of the woods so, no, I do not have any idea of how good a CZ trigger can be. I do have a couple nice 1911's with target triggers and I do know what a 1911 trigger can be.

My TSO trigger is easily on par with my semi-custom 1911s. So I don't think it's going to be on my "need" list. I love the 1911 platform and think this offering is aimed at more mature ( read old guys ) competitive shooters. Funny thing is a great competition gun also makes a great range gun. To some folks money is not an issue so I think DW will sell a bunch.

I believe they just discontinued the SAO cz 75, so internal competition is pretty limited at this point.
