Haha! Which guns would those be?

I don't want to sell any guns, but I'm trying to be financially responsible and have a rule that if I buy a gun I need to sell a gun or guns to pay for the new one. I have a sale pending for one of my P365XL's which should wrap up this weekend and will sell a P365. I'll still have one of each. I also have a S&W Mountain Gun in 45LC which I really like, but don't shoot often.

I have been doing the same myself. I have a feeling I'll be debating which to give up next summer...

I contacted DW and asked about mags. This is the response:

The DWX line utilizes the following magazines:
Full size DWX uses CZ P-10 magazines.
“compact” DWX uses CZ 75 magazines.

I am thinking that this will be the future for what the Browning Hi-Power held, but better because of the trigger design.
I have been looking at the Spanish Star B models, but this is better.

Also, looks like there is no grip safety, does anyone know?

I assume they mistyped that the compact uses the 75 compact mags, as the website indicates the compact will use 75 compact grips and mags

I am not sure what you are saying. I have a few CZ's in the 75 family. The 75 Compact will also use the 18 round mag I use in the SP-01. I think they mean the 75 compact mag will fit flush, but it will take any 75 mag of compact size or greater.

Oh, ok, yeah I agree. I thought you were saying they were saying the standard 75 mag was flush fitting (and therefore the compact would not fit).

I understand now, mea culpa

Not sure why but I could see a compact in 357 Sig being interesting, though I'd much prefer a 10mm. But...

It seems they're using the dimensions from their short-action frame

CZ needs to make with an optic ready slide though.

Eh, the thing is that there's no "universal" way to make a slide "optic ready." A manufacturer can either pre-commit the user to one or two sights (which may not be the ones the user wants), or they can go with some kind of adapter plate approach.

Adapter plates are not without their problems.

My TSO trigger is easily on par with my semi-custom 1911s.

My TS trigger is well under a pound. Its hinged so it gives up reset to my 1911's. However, all I have to do is think about pulling the trigger and none of my 1911's are that good.

I'm not a fan of the aesthetics of the DWX, but my (former) Dan Wesson Valor had the best trigger that I have ever encountered on a handgun. If this model's trigger is anything like that trigger, it will be a winner. Interesting.

The CZ 75 design has the slide riding inside the frame. Full length rails.

I know, carrying one... The rails show at both end of the slide.

On the DWX picture, there are no rails to be seen.

I though that the only way the muzzle end wouldn't show rails would be if they were interrupted rails and the slide was pulled rearward and lifted for disassembly - which wouldn't make much sense.

But on a 1911, the dustcover is below the rails, so they don't show at the muzzle (just checked now, should have done that before...). So, this is a 1911 slide...

I suppose the 9mm v 40 debate lives on.....not being a competitive shooter, is the 40 that popular in such circles? Very nice pistola...... I will keep my eye out for one. Like others before me have said, this may we’ll be the new Browning HP, but better.

It’s virtually required for Limited division (where this gun would fit) in USPSA. .40 and 9mm non-A-zone hits get scored differently. So, yeah, it’s “popular.”

I don’t think it’s just a regular 1911 slide, but it is not slide-in-frame like a CZ... slide-frame rails are in the conventional 1911-ish locations per an interview I heard with a CZ employee. And I agree with your reading of the picture.

Not being a competitive shooter ..... I don’t need to shoot a hyper-9mm to make some power factor number. Doesn’t the 40 make more sense outside of 3-gun competition?

In USPSA limited division, .40 can be scored major, while 9mm cannot be (regardless of power factor). Only in Open can hot-rodded 9 make major. So people shooting limited division generally want .40’s.

3gun is a different game. Actually, several different rule sets. Generally, though, 9mm is all you need for the handguns in 3gun.
