The states are supposed to do this. The whole VT incident may have not have happend if VA reported it to NICS like they were supposed to. the arguement is moot. Local governemnts and states need to better report this information.

This observation supposes that if the killer had been blocked from buying firearms from a retail dealer his whole plan would have ended. Possible maybe, but not likely. I am sure if you think about it some alternatives will come to mind.

The statutes, laws and regulations that have been enacted to control the criminal use of firearms are about as effective as similar ones designed to control the production, importation, distribution, sale and use of illegal drugs.
 
This is a tough question. Do I want Massachusetts, New York, and other principalities I do not respect to infringe on my right to keep and bear arms or do I want the local good old boys to do that?
 
Where is the option for no background check?

Do you need a background check to speak your mind? Worship? Speech and religion are often more dangerous than a instrument like a gun.
