Seems that many of the holster manufacturers don't do much in the way of holsters for n-frames. I'm not too interested in IWB, but more OWB/on the belt holsters. I get these aren't ideal for CCW, but it's a shame to see so many beautiful holsters for 1911s and little for the larger revolvers. I'd like to find something that works well on the belt. Already have a bunch of Kramer holsters, as well as a Milt Sparks PMK. Any other pointers for a custom leather maker would be appreciated (custom vs. something like Galco...).

Check out the wide variety of belt holsters El Paso Saddlery makes. I have a shoulder "Tanker" for a 3" and a belt "Tom Threeperson" for a 4". They are superb holsters, nice pigskin lining to protect the blued ones. There are lots of custom guys who will built whatever you want for it.

If you like the pancake style of holster, Simply Rugged, makes an excellent copy of the original Baker Pancake. Also a good copy of the Elmer Keith designed holster built by Lawrence, the 120.

The best part is the are great holsters, well made and affordable.

If you want a standard leather belt holster, the Triple K Carry Lite (Cabela's has it for $30) works well for my 629 Mountain Gun.

I might also order a Simply Rugged.

I just received a sourdough pancake from simply rugged for the used Model 19-4 4 inch I'm picking up today. I'll let you know tomorrow how it fits. The holster is elegantly simple. I received it in about 1 week. If I can figure out how to post a photo I will. Good luck.

I have a PMK on order from Milt Sparks...............I have no experience with anyone who makes a better holster than Sparks.

El Paso has some great stuff, I have to say. Especially for N frame service revolvers and snubs. Milt Sparks as well... It's easier to find a shoulder rig for a Bren 10 than it is to find a good OWB holster for an N frame snub.

I ordered a holster from

http://www.rgrizzleleather.com/

for my 329NG .44 mag 2.5"

Holster is tight at first, but loosed up and hugs the piece tight to the body. I really like it and carry it quite often. Had the holster 10 days after ordering.

Milt Sparks #200AW
Designed by Hank Sloan of the FBI. It is similar to the
#HSR ( Hackathorn Special/Revolver ) as they both
have a tensioning screw ( tapered so it won't back off ) & the
#200AW has a intergral in the shape shield over the
hammer - this was requested by ELmer Keith because
Keith was in the habit of catching the hammer on the inner lining
of his jacket and tearing it on the draw.

I've used a #200AW for a 686 4" Bbl. in conjuction
with a 1 1/2" Milt Sparks gun belt. The holster holdes the
S&W securely, and the Belt supports the rig. THe shield
over the hammer works, and doesn't hinder the draw at all.

my $.02 & epxerience

The MS #PMK previously mentioned carries a revolver in a
HIgher Ride, FYI>
