i was wanting to start hunting coyotes up here in illinois, and mostly will be hunting them at night, but i do not have the money to spend on night optics (nightvision)

i was wondering if anyone had some good ideas on lights, or lasers, or even a good, but cheaper nightvision scope. (like under 200$-250$)

thanks guys, brian

No need for "night vision" equipment (unless you just want it).

We use various lights filtered with a red lens....with good success.

Normally, we "call" at night and have one person running the light....while the other has shooting duties. It takes very little light (just the fringes) to get their eyes to show up. Only when ready to take the shot...do we put the full light on the animal. Target identification is critical!

Just one way of doing it.

Good luck to you.

P.S. Make sure you're really clean and as scent free as possible, then set up downwind from where you expect them to come from. The will circle you often times, (trying to get downwind)...but you can stop them with a soft whistle and then take your shot.
