I have a GP100 4" that has a Trijicon front tritium sight. I also has a Glock G22 and it has a Meprolight front sight.

Both are 12-14 yrs old and getting VERY dim. I've been looking at ways (including buying fresh after-market tritium tubes)
to bring these tired warriors back to life.

Today, I got off my butt and called both Trijicon and Meprolight. I am on cloud friggan nine right now!

Trijicon said since I already have their sight, push it out of the front and mail it to them. They will re-tube the
sight and send it back for $19!!!!!!!!!

Meprolight said the don't re-tube but it's $19.50 to replace an existing sight. The saleman will be calling me in about
15 mins to get my info (from what the tech said) and they'll take care of me!!!

YIPPEEEE!! New, fresh night sites!!!

Good info.

I just put a new tritium front sight on a pistol of mine yesterday. The difference in brightness between it and a 5 year old one on another gun is surprisingly noticeable.

I need to find out who you talked too!!

I called Meprolite two years ago about replacing the veils on my 13 year old Glock adjustable sights.

They told me they didn't repair them.
But would be glad to sell me a new set at full MSRP, or $149.95!!!

Didn't get my call back from Mepro today as promised. Will call them tomorrow and ask directly for sales dept. Tech definitely quoted me $19.50 for replacement.

I'm going to pursue it.

New for 2015 ....

If the Glock sights don't work out, I'd suggest the new Tru Glo FTX Glock sights.
They work in day or night and have improved protection for the fiber optics.

Prices vary but many retailers stock these new FTX Glock sights.

I again called to Meprolight to find why the sales person had not called me and to conclude business.

Their technician "Dan" earns high praise from me and I must recommend.

I wrote an email to the company... contents below.

To whom it may concern:
You have in your midst an employee of outstanding demeaner and professionalism.

I had the absolute pleasure to speak with your tech, Dan, 3 times recently and this gentleman has earned your company several outstanding posts I will be making on forums! I would be remiss not to lavish the highest praise on Dan, The Mako Group, and Meprolight if I were not to express the good fortune of such an outstanding experience with customer service! Keep this gentleman on staff forever!!! He has earned my loyalty!

Sincerest regards,

xxxxxx ex ;)

My dead front sight is being replaced for $19 and change.
I am immensely pleased with how this transaction turned out and with this level of service, I can recommend Meprolight without hesitation!

Am very pleased to be able to report such!!!

This was replacement on my front sight only. I have an adjustable rear that is fine. So my G22 will be back up to snuff!!

I dug deeper into my old Glock 23 Meprolight adjustable sights after EX PM'd me this evening.

Turns out they are older then I thought.
I bought them new in 1995.
So, 15 years old and still glowing, but just not enough to notice!!

So I fired of a message to Meprolight 'Bill' tonight to see what they say about cutting me a break on replacing them.

Not holding my breath though.

All else fails?
I'm considering replacing the Tritium tubes myself.

I think a torch outside will melt the adhesive and maybe even force them out of the holes?
Otherwise, I can center-punch them and break them, then drill them out.

Anyway, staying upwind outside, there is little risk of breathing depleted Tritium fumes!!!

Tubes are available on the web at about $7 bucks each.

And epoxy or Hot Stuff in that amount is basically free!

So, we shall see??

Received Return Auth from Trijicon. Sent sight off yesterday. Their message says "2 to 4 week" turn around. They had told me on the phone $19 to re-tube. They will contact me for billing details when they receive mine.

I'll repost then.

Received new Meprolight front sight today as promised. Waaay brighter than the one I took off. Was a 14 year old sight (out of any warranty period) and they sent me a new one for $19.55.

Very happy with that service.

Will post again when the Trijicon deal is complete.

Received the repair email from Trijicon this morning. They already have my front sight as I sent it to them approx a week ago.

The email they sent said this sight is from 2004 and has approximate correct brightness (half life of tritium is 12 yrs so it's barely less than half the brightness of a new one).
They said in the mail that for $19 they would re-tube it with a fresh tube and send it back with a new 12 yr warranty. Done deal!

Sure beats paying retail to get new sight!

Probably another week and I'll have it back and in service again. Happy camper!

Final report. Email with Fedex tracking number from Trijicon saying my freshly tubed, rebuilt front sight is one th way back. Total cost... $18.

At this point I can only say that both Mepro and Trijicon have taken VERY good car of me on sights that were certainly out of warranty.

I am a happy camper on both fronts and would recommend either company to anyone!
