the half-life of tritium is 5 years no matter what brand you go with.

The useable life of the sights is often around 10 years, so it may well be 5 years for half the life of the sights/illumination.

Like RC pointed out t3/tritium(Hydrogen with two neutrons), has a decay rate that puts it's halflife at around 12 years.

Also it's not the tritium itself that produces the illumination, as there's a phosphor thats included, which illuminates when exposed the decay products of the t3. So there would be more than one variable on the brightness and serviceable life of the differin' brands/makes(worth testing each for your own preferences).

btw, contray to what some extreme enviromentist's would have folks believe, the words 'decay' and 'halflife' pose little health risk with t3 illuminated sights, unless you somehow managed to unknowing scrape off the material and ingest it, then you may have some health issues.
