I have a Nikon rimfire scope mounted on a Savage 22WMR rifle which I decided to take the range today. At 100 yards I noticed something odd I've never seen with any of my other Nikons, rimfire or otherwise. If I adjust the diopter so the reticle (BDC) is crisp and clear then the target is blurry. If I adjust it so the target is crisp and clear then the crosshairs start doubling (one thick line with a thin line just to the right vertically).
It's been a while since I've had this rifle out of the safe so I don't know if I'd noticed this before or not. Truthfully I don't much shoot my .22 rifles beyond 50 yards but this 22WMR has always been a solid MOA rifle at 100. I think I first started shooting it with the upper-end Nikon rimfire that has an adjustable objective (EFR), then I moved that scope to another rifle for reasons I forget now.
I wonder if this scope just went bad on me? Or am I doing something wrong?Thoughts please THR.
