Trial of canadian citizen David Hudak, who is facing federal charges involving posession of unregistered missiles, and illegally training foreign nations how to conduct dynamic entries, is nearing conclusion.

This guy has been held without bail for over a year.

A revealing sidelight to the case (among many), is how the BATF reported the seizure of contraband from this business. According to BATF "weapons experts", Hudak possessed 2300 unregistered tactical missiles, worth $54 million! http://www.my-homeschooling-place.com/forums/politics/posts/452.html
ATF agents said on Sunday that along with the FBI ( news - web sites), they had seized more than 2,300 unregistered missiles at the school, but there was no reason to think Hudak had any ties to terrorist groups such as al Qaeda. They said the missiles were worth about $54 million.

In actuality, the items in question were 2300 factory reject missile warheads (each one approx 4 ounces), that Hudak had bought from a subsidiary of Halliburton Corp., for $1 each. He had intended to use the charges for demolition work on his Roswell site. BATF has worked diligently, as usual, to correct the initial misinformation (not!).

Warning! Thread hijack!

There's a link on that page with some news on the status of NM's concealed weapon regulations:

(Santa Fe-AP) -- The state Department of Public Safety has drafted a revised set of rules governing how licenses to carry a concealed handgun are granted.

The first version of the rules raised concerns from gun enthusiasts. They had argued the rules made it more difficult than necessary to get a license.

Rules that would’ve required instructors to carry a $1 million liability policy and to give the department the serial numbers of guns used by permit-seekers have been removed.

A law approved by the Legislature earlier this year allows qualified residents over age 25 to apply for a permit.

They must complete an application and a handgun course from an approved instructor to apply.

The Department of Public Safety can issue the permits beginning January 1st.

Update: Hudak found not guilty of all charges...

At least jurors in some jurisdictions don't swallow every story served up by "authorities". Now, it remains to be seen if other alphabet agencies (INS in this case) will continue to hold Hudak on immigration technicalities, rather than immediately release him?

A well-deserved slap-down for the BATF. Will they reform rogue activities? Doubt it.

Update: Canuck freed in missile case

EL PASO, Tex. -- A Canadian counterterrorism expert cleared last week of federal charges involving illegal missile possession was freed on bond yesterday.

The Bureau of Immigration Customs Enforcement had set David Hudak's bond at $10,000 US, clearing the way for his release.
