I really don't know how to go about this one. I've read and read, and all the feasible ideas seem unsatisfactory.

I am looking to put some sling swivels on an 870 Wingmaster. I am NOT going to ruin the factory wood by drilling a stud in there, and I don't want to buy new furniture.

When at the house or on the ranch, an extension is thrown on, with a 20" barrel. When hunting, it's wearing a 30" barrel.

Is there some way I can have sling work for both setups? If not, I reckon It will be used when it has the short barrel on most often, mag extension will come off if need be. I do not intend to leave the sling on when it's around the house.

I have heard about the Specter slings, but a few folks that I've heard from have actually had their extension fly off under use. Piss on that.

Any ideas that could work?

Cheers,
JR

I have looked into the mag caps with swivels, I just need to be sure and find one that uses the old ball detent system.

I forgot to mention, I don't want to use any mount that adjusts the LOP, as the GG&G mount does.

If that adjusts the LOP it is by 1/8" at most. Your other option is either to try to find an adapter that uses fabric, or drill into the stock.

Installing a QD stud does NOT ruin the factory wood.

Some of the finest & most expensive guns in the world come with them already installed.

I am not going to alter anything factory on this scattergun. Be it changing the furniture, drilling into the stock for any reason at all, or adding a sling plate between the stock and the receiver.

One Ounce Load nailed it.

Probly should have bought a different gun. I agree that a Remington stock is not exactly a collectible work of art that would be ruined by the proper installation of of a little bitty sling swivel stud. But to each his own.
