Part of the problem is that many gun owners are like myself. Older guys that grew up huntin' with guns and altho we may own a good number of them, we don't own ARs, nor do we own handguns that accept Hi-Cap mags. The largest handgun capacity I have is the 7 round mags for the 1911s. Otherwise the 5 and 6 shot revolvers don't even have mags. The highest capacity centerfire long-guns I own are my lever carbines. Otherwise the rest of them have 5 or fewer round mags. While I do not own any of the items most want to ban, I still support the right of others to. Many like me do not, because they see no legitimate reason any civilian needs them. While I feel that banning any firearms is just the tip of the iceberg of gun control, many like me do not. Since the proposed ban does not affect them, they don't really care, and in some cases, actually resent those that own those types of firearms. This comprises of more folks than many think. I am surprised every-time I go to the range and listen to old farts like me grumble about those kids and their "assault weapons", because "why in the world does anyone need more than 6 shots?". It is an uphill battle and we need to cover our flanks.
