My old Colt .38 ACP 'Sporting' Model was always happy to chamber and fire 158 Grain Semi-Wadcutters with slight downloading of Powder ( 'Unique' if memory serve), for Target use.

I feel of course that these would be far too heavy for Full House Loadings, where, the original or continuous Bullet of Factory Ammunition for 108 years, tended to be 130 Grain, and, full Copper Patch, or Hardball, rated supposedly to around 1050 fps...even though some various Lead Bullets and Hollow Points were occasionally offered many years ago ( given the Cartridge became obsolete in the late 1920s, succeeded by the .38 Super).

Having got a nice older Broning High Power also, I am wondering about shortening regular 158 Grn LSWCHPs, so they would weigh 130 Grains, or, modifing a Mold for producing them at 130 Grains...to see how they would do in it as well.

Anyone have any experience along thse lines?

I know one can get a Mold made to order, or, send a Mold off for it to be modified, so, given that I doubt anyone manufactures a 130-ish Grain Lead Semi-Wadcutter Hollow Point, seems to me one is going to have to make their own, one way or another.

What do you think?
