I got a 9mm on the way to my FFL (thanks manofsteele  ) so I've been shopping around for ammo. While I was browsing GunBroker I found a couple of auctions for some Norinco 9mm ammo at a pretty attractive price.

Does anybody have any experience with this stuff? The auction says its 124g, brass case, non-corrosive FMJ. It doesn't say whether or not the bullet is steel-core, however, and my range explicitly bans all steel-core ammo.

Anybody have any idea what kind of reliability I might see with this stuff? Is it steel-core?

FYI: My "gun in the mail" is one of these:

Don't know anything about Norinco ammo, but...

If you're not looking for just a 124 gr. bullet, you can buy Winchester 115 gr. FMJ in 100 round boxes for I think $11.34 plus tax at Walmart. At www.natchezss.com you can buy CCI Blazer brass case 115 gr. FMJ for the same price as the Norinco, and CCI Blazer aluminum case 115 gr. FMJ for less than the Norinco. Congrats on the new CZ75! I hope you like it as much as I like mine.

I got 200rds from a local shop couple weeks
ago for 16 bucks.My XD-9 likes it just fine,it
seems to be cleaner than WWB,PMC,UMC
and other general plinking ammo.Accurate
enough and i've no misfires,BTW a strong
magnet didn't stick to the bullets so i don't
think it's steel core.

I thought Norinco ammo imports were banned circa 1915 after the AWB passed.

The stuff I got then in 9mm & 45ACP was brass cased and boxer primed. Worked well enough that I'd have bought more if I could have.

Unless the rules have changed recently it is pretty old ammo.

I can buy 115gr 9mm Aluminum Blaser for $3.86 a box of 50 at the local Academy. Blazer Brass is only $1 more if you are superstitious about aluminum cases.

Our CZ75 loves the cheap Blazer and steel case "Monarch" ammo.

Was Norinco even around in 1915?

I'm with wally, didn't know Norinco ammo was still being sold. Used it all of the time way back when. The 124 gr 9mm was usually a little on the hot side, which I liked. Used the brass for reloading.

The norinco 9mm i bought was new old stock
from a closed down store in tucson. It had
been held in storage for quite a few years
by the feds until the court case was done.

I've shot a bunch of it and still have a box or two from before the ban. It's decent blasting ammo. Nothing especially good or bad about it.

ME + TYPING = NOT GOOD too! :)

Of course I meant circa 1995.
