I've spent quite a few hours trying to find out more about a 386 Hunter AK I own marked Valley Guns, LA. (Los Angeles)

It is the type one Hunter, but does not say Norinco Hunter 90 on the reciever. It only has the 386 Polytech mark.

I got it from a private source that absolutely swears it was purchased 20 years ago- pre ban.

I've been in contact with various AK forums, including .nuts and the AK boys on the AR.15 forum.

The best source for data is JA Freeman- he's crosslinked on a couple sites. I'm in contact with him.

I see why gun nuts go nuts.

IS there no way in the known Universe to identify this weapon and when it arrived in the US?

Can anyone suggest an AK guru I might talk to?

thanks so much,

munk
