North's second term at NRA goes south.

Dang it! I liked Col. North! Never thought he'd go south!

If someone HAD to go it should have been LaPierre. I never thought he was as bad as some here do, but apparently he's sown a great deal of discord and sometimes you just have to put the organization above the individual.
I hope the N. R. A. can get its act together.

This NRA infighting is worthy of Byzantium. It turns out that Wayne LaPierre is a better Machiavellian than Oliver North is. But his triumph will be short-lived. The NRA itself has been severely damaged, and it's not clear that it will survive, with or without LaPierre at the helm.

North is not who I expected to leave. Why can’t Lapierre go, too? Because he’s a cockroach and they survive a lot of stuff.

There are two books that have served me best in my work in state government, and therefore politics: The Elements of Style and The Prince. I can’t imagine working at the NRA would be any different from my current situation.

If you think THE PRINCE is good, then I suggest you read Machiavelli's DISCOURSES ON LIVY.
THE PRINCE
is the Cliff notes version of DISCOURSES.;)

I don't care who paid 200K for clothes. Anybody who needs 200K of clothes is a - well, fill in the projected profanity here. I would tend to believe North as what would be his motivation as compared to Wayne's for starting this?

An independent, quality audit is needed. Also, the true leadership needs to be elected and not some guy making big bucks and kept in place by cronies. Once you start to make wealth, your priority is your wealth, rather than the goals of the organization. If SCOTUS wiped out gun laws, Wayne would have to sell used cars.

That's the point, is it there for us or for the benefit of the 'leadership'? It will not be there if it cannot maintain the trust of its members and potential members. Who is going to sign up now or send a donation except a shrinking cadre?

man, i just signed up for 2 years a month ago. mighta waited to see how this all shook out. I get the "donate money" emails all the time, almost thought about it until i read what salaries were being paid. nope, time to trim some fat and get back to basics

I am a lifetime NRA member. I was puzzled by the role North would take when he was hired. I was puzzled at his low profile while he was there. I did not see a single thing that North accomplished while he was there. It seems that the NRA used him for his name and military background. It was a waste of money but not the fault of North. Something is not right at the NRA and maybe North saw it and tried to fix it?

Bye.

Take the rest of the over paid celebrities with you.

The NRA needs good people, people who CARE, not people you have to buy and will sell any thing if they are paid. Super beets one day and the highest bidder next.

OMG! What a SACRIFICE you've made.

When I read Lapierre is making $1million+/year (and in one year $5million), I start questioning. I am a Life Member, but am not likely to respond to the CONSTANT telephone calls for money I receive.

I started blocking the numbers. If they can't do it with what they get the it's no longer an advocacy group. It's become a for profit group. I'm satified that should SHTF my state will utilize it's option to go back to being a sovereign country.
