This is the kind of stuff that ticks me off to no end. I consider myself rather alert to current events and gun right issues and this is the first I have heard of this event.

Good job for posting this thread, I wish we had more awareness and notice about these types of events so that we could spread the word and educate more people.

I feel your pain. What's particularly embarassing for me is that I had been following that series since Michael Crichton was there on AGW March of '07 and still managed to miss it.

Downloading now.

"Oxford style debate" - more genteel than internet fora. I'm betting mention of Mary Rosh would have been a 15 yard penalty and loss of down.

These "pasifisocialiberalist's" that voted that firearms don't reduce crime have most likely never owned a "evil" gun or had to defend themselves...This is what our America is turning into...Thankyou to the southwest and to the northeast for weakening us one vote at a time. Thanks also to the commonwealth of PA which I will be leaving soon for letting the wool fall over your eyes.

We went from 13 to 27% - that's a win.

Besides, note the location:
Those debating at Rockefeller University's Caspary Auditorium in New York City...
I thought Kleck was particularly effective.

I like the seattle police chief "many cops choose not to carry a firearm (on duty) " Because it escalates violences and/or it can get wrestled away from the cop and used on themselves.

What cop, Where???!?!?!? I have never in my entire life, seen, or met a cop who doesn't carry on duty!

hopefully I read this correctly...

To summarize the article, it appears our side makes a compelling argument bringing 14% of people over to our side, whilst the guns-are-bad pitch sold 3% of people.

That police chief is a stone cold liar. No on-duty peace officer who is actually working out on the street, is going to go unarmed. Nor would a partner work with a fellow p.o., who could not protect him if he were in serious trouble.

I say again, just a toadying suck up to the gun grabbers liar.

that depends. who has the gun. the criminal, or the would be victim. that is what all this fuss is about. if only the criminal has the gun, we are all victims just waiting our turn. i dont know why some people just cant see this!?!?!
