NRA Hypocrisy

The anti-gun people are some of the biggest hypocrites I've seen. They threaten or wish for violence on the NRA all the time. They have a right to say no guns on their property, as do I. I respect and totally understand why.

The HQ is on Waples Mill rd in Fairfax.

Its literally 10 minutes from my house. I drove past it on my way to school at George Mason today.

Holy crap guys I'll stop by this weekend and see whats up.

When the wife and I were there two years ago to see the exhibit on "Hollywood Guns" I'm sure we were not the only ones with a CCW in the museum. Just sayin'...

If its a sign whoopdi do Dah. If its metal detectors and guards wow. Would be odd getting busted in there. It's their property.

"Sorry.
I shall not renew my membership. I am done with the NRA."

Do you always step off the bus while it is still moving?
Why not wait to find out what the truth is first?

I've only used the NRA range once, maybe a millennium ago. I walked in with my range bag chock-full of guns. I had to take a written test to get a range pass, but then I was good to go.

Really a nice range, by the way -- IIRC, it's 50 yards long, and will accommodate any caliber up to, but not including, .50 BMG.

.

I do wonder if some very smart anti just pops in, plants such a idea, and backs out letting us self destruct from within. BUT, if this is true, I do feel very betrayed by an organization that I have helped support for nearly fifty years. That said, I do have serious doubts about all this. The OP posted and was asked so many times for verification and NOTHING yet. hmmmmm

Wow. Opening Post: an anti-gun friend of the poster said NRA HQ allows employees to be armed but not visitors. "I researched this..." but no links or checkable citations.

Three pages of comments on the opening post. Comments on the comments. No verification of what NRA HQ policy is or why its what is if we knew. One cite to a posting by Daily KOS*.

If I find out what NRA HQ policy is on visitor CCW, I might post on that.

* Daily Kos --Their own logo bears the statement "political analysis and other daily rants on the state of the nation".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daily_Kos
Quote: "Daily Kos is an American political blog that publishes news and opinions from a progressive point of view. It functions as a discussion forum and group blog for a variety of netroots activists whose efforts are primarily directed toward influencing and strengthening the Democratic Party. Additionally, the site features a participatory political encyclopedia ("DKosopedia"), glossaries, and other content. . . . .
"...In 2009, Time magazine listed the Daily Kos in its "Most Overrated Blogs" section...." End Quote
Daily Kos had a civil war between management supporters of Obama and writers who were supporters of Hillary during the 2008 campaign: the founder Kos himself stated Clinton "doesn't deserve fairness on this site." Unfairly unbalanced biased rants. If Daily Kos said water was wet and rocks were hard, I would send an email query to the NAS or the Smithsonian for verification.

I've been in firearms manufacturing facilities. No concealed handguns allowed in there either, IF the NRA headquarters DO enforce that rule it's probably for the same reason.

My wife, my children, my grandchildren, my cowboy action friends are all welcome to carry concealed when they come to my home.

You, a stranger? No.

If you find that unreasonable, go to someone else's home.

Geez.

I have been to the range many times and there is no issue with carrying there.

I have never noticed signs etc in the museum.

While I agree if it's true (didn't read every post) that it's not right, I'm hardly going to turn my back on the organization that most stands up for my Rights. (Not saying I never would)

The most common complaint I hear about the NRA is that "they look out for the gun industry and not the people." While I think that is total BS, I also ask why it matters? Our goals are the same. Glock wants to sell me what they make, and I want to buy what they make. It is my interest to buy a Glock 23, and it is in their interest to sell me one. The NRA serves both our interests, and I am damn proud to be a member of a group that fights tooth and nail to protect our civil rights. I would bet that without them, we'd be much worse off, without question.

Every person on this board knows how damned ridiculous the liberal and media lies are about guns. The NRA does more to shoot down those myths than anyone. And without their pressure, undoubtedly, some legislators on the fence would fall against us. If you are a gun owner, stop your crying, and join the fight. Out of 150 million gun owners in the US, there are only 4.5 million NRA members. At least I'm doing my part. I hope everyone here can say the same. If you give up on the NRA, and plan to let others finance the fight for YOU to keep a gun, then on your way out give up your guns, and file papers to run for Congress as a Democrat.

A 'gun free zone' is a level of security that has its place so long as it is backed up by armed employees.
I imagine it wouldn't be a good idea to CCW in a police station or a government building for instance.

The NRA must be a target for attempted assassinations, so it makes sense to not allow anyone off the street to carry, as a potential killer with a clean criminal record could feasibly get a CCW specifially to carry out an assassination.

The concept of a 'gun free zone' (meaning a secure building) is a valid one.
The type of 'gun free zone' that we often ridicule is the type that is enforced only with a law and a sign, which we know is tragically ineffective.

As long as the NRA building is a proper, secure 'gun free zone' with metal detectors and security guards, I am prepared to believe that there is a valid reason for it.

If it is a gun free zone based entirely on trust and a few signs, I would find that questionable.

Sorry.
I shall not renew my membership. I am done with the NRA.

If they cannot trust me to legally carry in their building, I cannot trust them to fight for my right.

It is the same thing I do with businesses. If they are publicly anti-gun or they have a sign no gun on premises, they will not have my business. It is not bashing. It is common sense.

It is my line in the sand.

Another one picked off by the Anti's. Conquer and divide, congratulations, you fall for it.

ok good grief. we don't need 5 more pages of speculation. i'm temporarily closing this one until someone is able to verify or get a statement from the NRA. pm me and i'll reopen when someone has something factual to post.
