So I finally got an O-ring to secure the Express barrel to my Wingmaster. Now just wondering, how long do these O-rings last for you guys? I just got a generic rubber one from the hardware store. I know I should take it off before cleaning the gun with solvents etc. Would this last during waterfowl season in the rain, mud, cold temperatures? I was originally looking for the wave washer which I still might get, but just wondering how well this O-ring setup will hold up.

Was your cap coming off previously? I have never had any issues with end caps on my 1100 or A400 Beretta.

If the rubber fails quickly, try going to the auto parts store and getting a few made from Viton, it will last a little longer (but still watch any solvents or oil products)

Viton or neoprene will be impervious to common solvents and all oils. Some of the rubber ones from the hardware store disintegrate pretty quick if oil or solvent hits them. Mud and water won't hurt the O ring, but you better clean the gun. Just watch it. Until it gets really chewed up it will hold fine.
