We have done several challenges this year this is just about the end, Just in time to roll into December and Christmas and look toward a new year.

THE RULES

You will fire 10 shots onto the approved target listed which for this challenge will be a B-16 25 yd slow fire target for both the 15 yd and 25 yd classes. The B-8 rapid fire target will be used for the 10 yd timed challenge .Scoring will be scored by adding up the score for all 10 shots. A shot touching a line counts as the next numbering up. For instance if a shot touches the line separating the 7 and 8 the score is a 8. A X counts as 10 points.

You can download the target and make copies online although however I downloaded it on a standard printer paper 8.5 x 11 inch paper, see example photo attached at bottom the target which is slightly smaller than standard targets that are bought or ordered and the printed ones cut out part of the 5 ring so it's best to buy some if you can. You may use any color target or put a sticker in the center X circle if you want to help aiming as long as it fits correct. See the three sample targets in the photo whatever B-16 target you get it has to have a X ring there are some available that just use orange for the whole ten ring and that can't be used

Allowed firearms, any double action revolver
New class this time, timed double action at 10 yds, 60 seconds, that's four seconds a shot with twenty seconds to reload using the B-8 rapid fire target.

There will be four classifications.

Class 1, 10 shots at 10 yds rapid fire 60 seconds timed double action only with B-8 target
Class 2, 10 shots at 15 yds, slow fire double or single action mode your choice with B-16 target
Class 3, 10 shots at 25 yds slow fire double or single action mode your choice with B-16 target
Class 4, 10 shots at 25 yds slow fire with optics ith B-16 target 100_2693.JPG

Please include with the target submission

username
classification entered class 1, 2 , 3 or 4
score
firearm
ammunition

then take a pic of it and post it here, if you would post a pic of the firearm used as well.

You may submit as many targets as you wish provided it was shot with a different firearm. One target submission per firearm is allowed within the class . You can take as many tries that you want BEFORE you post your target but only post the target you want to submit for the final submission to the challenge.

If you have a family member or friend that wants to enter they can using your user name and firearm just make notes when posting.

The cutoff date for submissions is November 30 2019

Please submit targets even if you don't think they'll win as the information on how well what shoots may be valuable to other members

Good luck and good shooting

Any questions such as how to post pics or qualifying firearms, or links to possible target downloads please feel free to ask

nothing to brag about, but another safe queen got a work out!
Merle, you should use the B-8 target for the timed DA only class, the rings are bigger and will give a better score because. But if you want to do slow fire at 15 yards with double action or single action your choice if you want then yes the B-16 was correct.

Looking over my first post and not having much sleep last week when I made it I do need to clarify something before someone enters a rimfire , this is a centerfire cartridge challenge no .22 or rimfire allowed we already did a rimfire challege

My second handgun I bought, first was a Colt 1911 series 80 and then this S&W 629 .44 MAG back around 1990. First volley was a little left, clicked the windage knob two clicks, then did the second volley which is my entry. When I do my part it will keep 10 shots in the 9 to 10 ring, not wanting to go through boxes of ammo this is my entry I lost a couple shots anticipating the shots.

LK
class 2 15 yds slow fire with single action
S&W 629 .44 magnum
Fiocchi 240 gr
score 88-1X

Well hopefully I can actually shoot a similar group with the Python that actually counts for score LOL

Also note that with the B-8 target for the rapid fire class it's a LOT easier to score well as the scoring rings are more generous than the B-16 for the other classes.

Arghh looking at my entry for the 629 44 mag pains me, those two outside shots (3 really) knowing I can do better but I have limited .44 mag ammo and it was after shooting other guns so I know when getting tired it was time to quit.

Nice shooting 1K on the timed, been thinking about trying the the .44 mag lol, but that is probably a no

That 1K guy really knows how to set the bar high.

I don’t have many DA revolvers, so I thought I’d make the best with what I’ve got. I don’t know that I’ll try the J-Frame at 25 yds, but all things considered I thought it did ok.

(And yes, I wrote the time on the wrong target).

At one time I found myself without a .357 revolver. And that is something that no home should be without. So I started looking around. I found this S&W 581 in a pawn shop in Orem, UT for a bit over $200. A previous owner had had a trigger job done, which resulted in an excellent DA pull, but had disabled the SA function. But it did what I needed and the price was right.

After shooting the little J-Frame today, launching .38 target loads through the L-Frame was a breeze. I could probably improve on my 15-yd. target, but I ended up taking a few more tries on the timed targets than I had initially intended, and I was running low on ammo. I’ll have to go back and shoot one at 25 yds. at some point.

I’ve only got one other DA revolver after this. Hopefully I’ll be able to get out this weekend.
