Does anyone know any good off-range plinking spots near Twin Falls, Idaho?

My friend's parents are bailing out of California and moving there, so I was wondering if there are any good spots nearby to plink at if I ever visit.

From Rupert east I might be able to help, but there should be no problem finding free places to shoot around Twin Falls.;)
Lotta desert around there.
Congrats, BTW.

Hundreds of square miles of BLM desert land.

Tell them to dump the cali plates ASAP and not to vote for two years so they get a feel of what freedom is like before they vore more liberals in.

Hundreds of miles of BLM land? Cool!

These people won't be voting any liberals in. They are leaving the Bay Area to escape that, along with the traffic and high cost of living. This guy sold his nice, middle-class house for $1.1 million (nothing out of the ordinary here), and so will have a lot of money to play around with--he will basically be semi-retired because of the windfall difference in the cost of housing.

"This guy sold his nice, middle-class house for $1.1 million"

Not saying this is the right thing, but he may not want to broadcast that fact a whole lot. There is some terrible animocity from "natives" when folks from Cali do that, hence my comment about ditching the plates.

Biker can add to this.

At least where I live, we work hard and struggle for decades to make the payments on a modest 3 bdrm 3 bth house on 1/4 acre and some joker from Cali moves up and falls into a 5 acre ranch for little or no effort. Then that same joker starts to put up no tresspassing signs, buys up lots on both sides of the only forrest service access road and then gates it, or starts telling us our state politics are not liberal enough.

LOL, like I said, not saying it is correct, but it is a reality.

My non-liberal farming type friends from Moscow & my co-workers from CDA would say the same...;)

Okay, my friend who is a member of that family just got back from helping out with the move, and he said there's great shooting spots only ten minutes from Twin Falls. (Sweet!)

He goes with his sister (both helped out with the move but will continue living in CA) to Sportsman's Warehouse because all of a suddent she wants to buy a 10/22, which is legal in California, so the deal is legal under federal law. But the clerk at the store said he could only sell firearms to people from contiguous states under Idaho law. I checked the law and this is incorrect. While the law says it is legal to sell to people from contiguous states, it does not say it is illegal to sell to people not from contiguous states!

TITLE 18
CRIMES AND PUNISHMENTS
CHAPTER 33
FIREARMS, EXPLOSIVES AND
OTHER DEADLY WEAPONS
18-3315. RESIDENT OF CONTIGUOUS STATE -- PURCHASE OF FIREARM IN IDAHO.
Residents of a state contiguous to the state of Idaho may purchase rifles and
shotguns in Idaho, provided that such residents conform to the applicable
provisions of the federal Gun Control Act of 1968, and regulations thereunder,
as administered by the United States secretary of the treasury, and provided
further, that such residents conform to the provisions of law applicable to
such purchase in Idaho and in the state in which such persons reside.

So either the clerk is wrong, or there's some Idaho firearm law I'm missing, but I checked the whole list (http://www3.state.id.us/idstat/TOC/18033KTOC.html) and I didn't see anything. So am I missing something, or is Sportsman's Warehouse just another ignorant, CYA "no California" chain? (Idiot!)

essentially, unless you allready own it, you can not ship it across state lines. Buying in one state and transporting to another is in violation.

Now, if she wanted to pay for it then have them ship it to an FFL in CA, she should be good.

here you go
