El Tejon Quote: That's why that "hand over yer hawglaig" law down there is so frightening. The way some po-po handle weapons I'm surprised it does not happen more.
Fortunately, most departments realize that the fewer times that an LEO has to handle a CHL person's handgun, the lower the probability of an ND. I've had several interactions with various LEOs since the law went into effect over seven years ago and have yet to have an LEO lay a finger on one of my guns. After seeing the license, some of 'em have asked where the gun was, but at least two officers that I recall did not even feel a need to do that. I suspect it might have just a little bit to do with attitude.
Greybeard, that's what I thought. I have horrific images of coppers shooting themselves or others in all that gunhandling. I remember my LE range all too well [shudder].
Bad Dad Brad, few men ever had an AD, sober or intelligent. In fact, ADs are extremely rare. The incident here would be a ND, not AD. Intelligent and sober folks still manage to have NDs. IQ or book learning does not mean you won't do something stupid, unsafe, or carelessly.
I love it. cop trading seized extasy to his dirty cousin for a throwdown pistol and shoots/gets shot in the leg. you'd think the idiot would've disposed of the X before more cops showed.
That's it. I've come to the conclusion that Colt .45's are prone to ND's. All firearms should have 10-12 external, internal, and eternal safeties built in to avoid such accidents. What if it were a child twirling that handgun?
