Well great. Thought I was getting a deal, had a nice very low cost trade, got a worn NEF SB1 12ga 3.5" shotgun that I was planning to reblue and make into a turkey gun.... until... the blueing went south. Sand blasted all the parts, and the hammer along with the trigger didn't take very well, but the big letdown was the receiver. To much silicone in the metal used for the casting. Darn thing looks like a blued orange rust. Nothing like the nice solid black of the barrel.
So what other options are there? I can reblast this, but it looks like duracoat/bake-on finishes are the only way to go. Have any of you found a decent way to get blueing to work well on these NEF receivers?
