Went shooting last night with the wife and 2 of her female friends. Brought the 226, 225, SA 1911 Loaded, and Ruger Mark II. The women pretty much stuck to the .22 and once in a while shot the 225 or 226. I had intended to primarily shoot the 1911. Me, being the schmuck that I am, had bought a case of Blazer ammo a few weeks ago in .45. I say schmuck that I am because I know from experience that I can't stand this ammo but bought a case of it anyway since it's cheap. Anyway, couldn't shoot the 1911 to save my life last night. At some point I switched to the 226. All the sudden the synapses starting firing right, the planets aligned themselves correctly or something, but when going to the 226 I started to shoot out 3/4" dots I had placed on the back of a "Q" target. I go to Staples and for something like $2.00 get a few hundred colored dots by Avery, instead of spending something like $7.00 for maybe 50 orange dots that are made by some gun related company. I sometimes forget how rewarding it is to shoot the 226. BTW, it's a 9mm folded metal one. Out of my 11 handguns, I have to say the easiest shooters are the 226, USP45F, P7 PSP, and the Ruger .22. The challenging ones are 1911, 225, Glock 19, and Beretta 92. That 226 though. Forgot what I've been missing. I may have to get another some day.

Thanks for listening.

Ah yes, had mine for ten years, due to an unfortunate incident had to part with her. My 229 fills the void nicely.......but i still miss her. :~(

I have found from my own experience that, for me, whenever I go from 9 mm to .45 ACP back to 9 mm or just .45 ACP to 9 mm, at a shooting session, I always do much better with the 9 mm after shooting the .45 ACP. It would seem to me that the harder recoiling .45 ACP would acclimate me to that higher level and when I go (back) to 9 mm right after, the recoil feels like it's nothing. This allows me to shoot the 9 mm better.

Try the experiment out some time. Shoot 9, note the group size, shoot .45 (at least 50 rounds), shoot 9, note the group size. It'd be interesting if you see the same effect.

hksw,

Yes, I know what you mean about going to .45 and then back to 9mm. After shooting .45 for a while, 50-100 rounds, and then jumping back to 9mm. the 9mm feels like a pussycat.
