Just for Dave MC, I went over to a Ranchers barn and pulled out his old Trius launcher and a case of White Flyers. There is no skeet/trap/clays range anymore for 50 mile+ around here! I haven't used the machine in about 8 months, but I keep it greased for him, I had to drive the stakes 18" into the ground out near the pond, as he makes me throw the clays over the pond so they don't litter his pasture!
I brought my new shotgun pouch , instead of the old Allen canvas and leather one, and shot up 6 boxes of #8 12 ga and 3 boxes of .410 #9. At first I was using my 18" 870 with IC choke and getting 6-10 out of 25. After 3 boxes with ghost ring sights and 12" stock I had enough and pulled out the Rem 3200 with which I got 14, 16,21! Yeah the right tool for the job! My friend with me had the same experience with the HD gun versus his Browning Gold (although not as good as me!).
Then I switched to the Citori Skeet .410 and got a 9, 13 and a 16 out of 25! I see why the old timers like small bore skeet! We were angling the birds over the water, mostly low like a duck would be . I like shooting over the pond, there is nothing for miles so it is safe! Any way the pouch works fine , but for skeet the Allen 2 compartment and a good O/U sure beats a tricked out HD 870! ;)

(Visualize large old man griinning like an idiot)....

Thanks, Gordon. Now you know....

And 16/25 with a 410 SKEET gun is far from shabby. Darn good, IMO....

Visualize a lanky idiot grinning like crazy standing alongside Dave :D

This is something I thoroughly enjoy. I have done the same exact thing with M12, a 3200 and isn't that Citori in .410 a hoot or what!!

Now - you gotta get a .410 single shot and do this - talk about FUN!

Truth is, besides fun, it really does teach one some great skills. This is some of the bestest and funnest BA/UU/ R a person can do.
