Found this ole paper case crimp roller today ... lurking in a drawer .... 12G. I bought it about 25 years ago - intending to use some paper (cardboard) hulls - never did.

So here it is - bit of history in a way. No maker's name on it and .... guess it's about as dirty lookin as when I bought it. I must clean it and tidy it up i think ... deserves that.

View from both sides..............

Coulda put this in ''reloading'' but decided maybe more interest here ...... if at all.

I'm no expert on these, but lots of early reloading stuff was made by Lyman. If you want to know the maker contacting them might help.

TTBOMK, these also work on plastic cases. The Vintager folks oft use old stuff to make new ammo for their older shotguns with short chambers.

And thanks for posting this bit of history.

Chris, that is so interesting, thanks for sharing. If you, or someone else obtains some new info, please post...I'd like to read more.

Oh BTW Chris, you really should update your reloading stuff, I mean MEC 600 is simple, c'mon step into the modern world....I know your're OLD and all, but...:D

Hey my MEC 700 Versamec is old, looks better than that "deal" you pic'd tho'...you can upstage me with MEC 600...:p

There's enough of us ''curmudgeons'' here Steve that it's possible someone also has one or had one and add to info.

Loading stuff? Yeah I know Steve but ... for my needs, and much as a MEC is appealing .. just can't justify it ... at least not when it might compete with another gun!!

Here is ''Mr. Primitive'' ..... :p - at least 25 years old .. always been attached this wood block, and clamped ... ''somewhere''. That is to sorta make it portable but - strange thing is - it tends to ''live'' in one place more like permanent ... for years at a time! Does what I need!

The Lee doesn't get much attention, but it's certainly capable of turning out quality ammo well nigh forever. A little slower than the MEC single stages, but they will do the job. The folks I know with them seem a happy lot, and good shotgunners to boot.

Hey Chris,

Just messing with you, hey my gunsmith buddy has a Mec single stage that belonged to his wife's father. NO markings,( that I recall anyway) and one of these days we need to get a history of it.

That "tool" in original post, keeps eating at my memory. My gunsmith has collected some memorabilla and dang it...I think he may have one of those. Looks like someone tried to make a can opener from a old old mortise and bit...well it does. :p

25 yr old reloader...heck man I still use a 29 yr old SX1 , I fully understand "does what I need" means :D

Dang, we are gettin old! Is one supposed to do something special for a shotgun turning 30 ?
