I've had this REM 700 stainless synthetic ADL in .300Win since 1992. I used it as a back-up elk rifle and a loaner. It has a pretty nice Leupold VXiii 4.5-14X on it and the old Rem 700 easily adjustable lawsuit waiting to happen trigger. While it's killed a couple animals (in the hands of others), I never shot anything with it till a 5x4 mulie last season because I had an issue with my deer rifle. Basically I did a "hasty load development" around Nosler 168 Combined technology bullet 2 wks prior to the opener, zero'd it, took it to western KS and shot the mulie with it.

After that I decided to "modernize it" just in case I needed a back-up again. It had the heavy plastic stock on it which weighed 32.1 oz. So I bought a B&C Alaskan Ti for it, which weighed in at 28.4oz and added BDL bottom metal. The B&C is pillared, and I plan on skim bedding it this fall. Last week I shot it out back on steel and it seemed to do "OK" as is at 200 & 300. Put it on paper this AM with the last of some 180 grn partitions (3000 FPS) I loaded for it in 1994:

1st shot clean barrel, next 3 into .75" and the total for the 4 was just over an inch. I'm thinking it's showing some potential. New total weight with scope is 8lbs 5 oz. Not exactly a lightweight, but not bad for a .300WM. The new look:

Minus the optic I've now got about $560 invested ($300 in 1992 dollars)

looks good, i did the same thing with my 90's ss but found a m24 barrel so i went with there m40 stock. the b&c do take some rounds to self bed.
i have just about $700 in counting the scope, base, rings, barrel and stock. only paid $150 for the rifle.
