Alfred has written a gun rights blog on quora that shows the rise of violence in the uk. However he does stop at 1998. I have compiled Violence after 1998. Police recorded data.

https://www.quora.com/q/kqorduzquuuvyazv?sort=top

Violence against the person 495.1 1998

After 1998, Violence against the person fell from 495.1 in 1998 or 496.6 to 437.6 in 2000.

Common assault has to be added to the VAP including common assault on constables.
This was a non-indictable offence and became an indictable offence in 1998.

Common assault 143,850 offences plus perhaps 20,000 common assaults on constables would be 765.3 in 1998.

Religious,Constable and normal Common assault included in 1999, would be 871.3.

Assault on constable 1978 14,014

Assault on constable 1979 12,078

Assault on constable 1998 21,510

Assault on constable 2001 30,095

Assault on constable 2002 33,948

Assault on constable 2014 14,400

Assault on constable 2019 20,578

Harassment as an offence was created in 1998.

Violence against the person

Violence against the person 496.6 1997

Violence against the person 433.7 1998

Violence against the person 447.4 1999

Violence against the person 437.6 2000

Violence against the person 461.3 2001

When using the data minus Violence categories that were added after 1998.

So I did the research after Alfred cut off the VAP data in 1998.

When including all the violence categories, in 1998, it would be 960.2.
When including all the violence categories in 2002, it would be 1347.3.
When including all the violence categories in 2004, it would be 1591.0.

When minusing 2002 Violence data to be as it would be prior to 1998, it would be 751.9.

The rates of violence are shown to complete his blog. After the NCRS was introduced in 2002, 2003 is the first year the old and new crime standard cannot really be compared.

The crime rate decreased from 1591.0 in 2004. to 1062.6. in 2012. This is including all violent crime categories. Using categories used prior to 1998, it would be 566.6.

Looks like the count is rising. Another reason why we should be armed 24/7.

one question tho, Why do we care about the numbers from UK?
