Looks like someone had second thoughts :what:

Robbery attempt at Pio Nono ATM
By Amy Leigh Womack - [email protected]

Someone attempted to rob a 25-year-old Macon man after he withdrew money from an ATM at Suntrust Bank, 3625 Pio Nono Ave., at about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Macon police.

The man told police the person approached the driver’s side of his vehicle and said “give it up before I lay some iron on you,” according to a police report.

The man asked his girlfriend to get his gun from out of the glove box and the robber ran away, according to the report.

Nothing was taken.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at (877) 68-CRIME.

I was discussing this with my wife earlier. Kudos to the driver, I seriously doubt he was bluffing although the article doesn't say. This ATM is less than 2mi from our house. If, on the rare occasion, we have to go to an ATM at night, she gets out to access the machine and I've got my head on a swivel, hidden behind my tinted windows, my hand on the grip. It's very, very rare that we'd need to visit one at night anyway but I just can't stop thinking of how that would have MOST DEFINITELY ended differently had it happened to me.

I would like to think that SA would have prevented anything past a stern warning to keep back. STAY ALERT AND STAY ALIVE!!

Wow that one is in Ga too. Woot for GA. We are ALL armed :D

I sure hope that guy's girlfriend is very proficient at retrieving guns from glove boxes... I'm not sure that was the most tactically sound thing to do. I would have just driven off.

That's why I keep it in drive at the ATM. If someone try's that, it's floor it and if they get run over in the process, oh well.

bumper tag with them, i usually avoid ATM at night... he** i usually avoid then in the day too... no extra in the bank ...

I'd question the logic behind having your wife get out of the car.

Why not just do the ATM thing with your left hand, doors locked, with the wife's window up? You could have your gun IN YOUR RIGHT HAND the whole time if you wanted.

My bad....it's wasn't stated in the article or my comments but this ATM in question isn't a pull though - you have to get out and walk to it.

I don't think I'd let my wife go to an ATM at night while I waited in the car. If there is a goblin hidden in wait bad things can happen in a second.

Huh, I never thought of that, but it's a good idea. I think I'll start doing that. Even if they're beside the car, you just floor it and you're on your way safe and sound.

You must have seen me at Bank of America yesterday. ;)
