I have finally decided to part ways with a blued contender. It’s not that I dislike the gun, I just don’t use it much anymore and I have kinda had my gun with it. New barrels don’t keep me interested for long, and I have other things to use for handgun hunting. So, decision made.

I have the blued frame, and 2 barrels, 357 mag hotshot (missing choke tube) 10” and 7-30 waters blued 10” with scope. I see frames in similar condition selling around 300, and barrels just north of 200 each. Dies, brass, bullets will accompany the 7-30 so I will bump the price on that lot to 300ish. That puts me around $800 but I also know that there are fees for online sales. From your experience, would I be better off to sell on gunbroker? Local market seems pretty soft, so I don’t really foresee a local sale being beneficial. I may take it to a shop and see what they will do, I can always say no to their lowball offer.

What sites should I consider? What fees are associated? Should I break it up and sell in chunks? I will post it here in classifieds before I go that route, but I’m trying to understand my options before I jump into this. I have bought, but never sold online.

I broke my Contender up when I sold it. Sold extra barrels and carbine stock on eBay, and sold the grip/frame with a .223 barrel locally. If I had kept it together I might have had to wait years to find some interested in my unique combination of barrels.

When I sold my Encores, I sold each as a complete firearm (with one barrel) and sold the extra barrels individually. I posted them first on a local classified site and sold one that way—face to face is best. The others were posted on boards like THR. I priced them to sell, and they did. Gunbroker is an option. I list there with no reserve and a starting bid set at the minimum I’ll accept. Good luck.
