I live in NJ , And am waiting on my Florida Non-resident CCW Permit.

Reading through PA law it seems you dont need a license to OPEN carry on foot... but need the (FL CCW) license to open carry in a car. but need the ccw license to concealed carry.

Question 1 is can i open carry in PA without a license? Just being over 21 and having a FID card?

question 2- What do i get out of having a Fl CCW license for PA carry?

Thanks guys

Open carry is legal -- except in the city of Philadelphia (you must have an LCTF) or in a vehicle. You don't need an FID card ... (what is an FID card ... never mind, found it).

If you have a FL CCW license, you get the ability to carry concealed, the ability to carry in a car, and the ability to carry concealed or openly in Philadelphia.

Regarding car carry, PA law says, "11.Any person while carrying a firearm in any vehicle, which person possesses a valid and lawfully issued license for that firearm which has been issued under the laws of the United States or any other state."

I wouldn't consider the NJ FID card to be a license meeting PA's requirements for carry in a vehicle. It is a "Identification" card. Some law enforcement officers may (probably would) consider it enough of an official "gun" document to let you off that particular hook, but some would most likely not. The FL CCW permit takes care of that for you.
