In the search for the ultimate general purpose shotgun For my needs/wants, I have ordered a new shotgun.
what I want.......
Ultra reliable
short
fixed choke
weather risistant
Left handed safety
I want a gun that will provide game protect home and garden that is handy enough to carry most any where A long gun is acceptable
After much study I Am having Mr McGuire of AI&P tac. and a forum member here build me a gun
His basic I model with a left handed safety 18.5 modified barrel with tritnium bead It is in transit to here , And I am not so patently waiting to get my grubby little fingers on it

Congrats! That is a DANG good price for everything you're getting. If I'd known about his business when I was looking for an HD 870, I would have gotten the Basic 1 with absolutely no hesitation. It's essentially the same thing I ended up with anyway. Let us know when you get it!

You WILL love your new gun. J. D. builds probably the best 870 out there. His Parkerizing is very very nice. He's not messing around. Everything you need and nothing that you don't. Buy a LOT of shells and run it hard.

Wow! That is a GREAT price for all of that!

Park'd with the upgraded extractor? Plus its all done by a reputable dude and not some armslist-junky? Sign me up!

Next time myself or a buddy is in the market for a new scattergun this one will get my vote.

J.D. says he doesn't sell many of the basic model which doesn't make since to me . The upgrades that benifit a 870 and none of the junk you don't need at a reasonable price . I had it made left handed safety and got a modified barrel the barrel came with the tritnium bead I was more interested in the mod choke
I am ready to run some rounds when it gets here

I think most people see "custom gun", and assume it's going to be $1200 for anything. For $490, I'll take that over an Express Tactical. Same price, but JD's has a better finish and better parts. That offsets the lack of ghost ring/rail system for me.

My changes added about $90 to the above gun I an old school I don't want rails ghost ring sights and such on a shotgun I can do anything a shotgun needs to be doing with a bead It would not have bothered me if it was 4+1 instead of 6+1 capasity I want durable, reliable, compact a left safety right handed gun and a fixed mod. choke.

I agree with you, I am content with 4+1 and a bead. Matter of fact, there is no gun in this world that feels more "right" to me than an 870 with an 18" barrel, a bead, and a 4-round tube. Light, maneuverable, dependable. I have the Wilson +2 on one of my 870's, and the Express (and all future ones) has the upgraded CDF spring... Like I said, I basically have what JD offers, except I swam through a sea of stocks, extensions, forends, etc. before finding what works and what doesn't.

200 apples those are beautiful guns I can not find a wingmaster locally at all I have been looking for over a year the gun I ordered isn't near as pretty but should rock solid for feeding or defending my family
By the way I have my grubby little fingerprints on it now I just picked it up tonight:evil:

Very Nice. Enjoy it.

I am just curious why you went with a fixed modified choke on this gun. I may be missing something, but it seems a little tight to me for a short barrel general purpose gun.

It's actually IC.

No I upgraded to modified left handed safety and bigheaded safety

For my use I find modified the best all around choke. My left handed 870 shoots slugs better with a modified tube than i.c. it is 18.5 in too

.
Nice, Roy! That's a great rig!

And as for MOD vs IC, the Fred Fuller-approved all-around best choke is MODified.

Factory Remington 870 Barrel, 18.5", Tritium Rifle Sights, Fixed MOD Choke, $159.99

With life dealing so many wild cards as far as ammo availability and cost is concerned, it makes things easier IMHO to have some choke in a barrel that will be used a lot for buckshot (or birdshot, in training and practice). Over years of experimenting it seems to me that a conventional MOD choke is about perfect for 00, in anything except FliteControl type wads.

200, those are nice lookin 870's. My 20" barrel came in today for my Wingmaster, and I have to say, I love the way it looks and handles.

Thanks, fellerz, for the compliments.

*please*

Roy, looking forward to your impressions after shooting your new 870. Too, I think your post signature is one of the best I've ever seen...

plumberroy's post sig

Every breath I take as a Free man was paid for with the blood of an American Soldier

I have only run a box of shell so far .I run it hard to function test . Could not set up targets on our pistol range with out hip waders this week. patterns looked good from what I could see in the water. I was shooting chunks of ice in the water between the 25 and 50 yard targets lines .

As far as my sig line, I am just stating the truth, some people need reminding what freedom cost
