I have acquired an 1860 Colt Army .44 manufactured in 1863 and issued to Major William M. Pratt of the 8th Connecticut. I also have his issue Army holster. I've cleaned the gun with cotton cloths and WD-40. The action is perfectly functional and the cylinder locks up tight when cocked. I cannot remove the wedge despite my soaking it with Kano Kroil. I've used a nylon punch and brass hammer to no avail. I want to remove the cylinder to fully inspect and clean it but must avoid any drastic procedure that might damage the gun. Any suggestions?

Soak in a tub of WD 40? Or at least apply liberally and let it be for a few hours at least. Also check in the BP section... a ton of knwledge there.
