I've been dutifully watching a certain online firearms retailer for a Rossi 1892, and every once in a while they're available, usually at odd hours. I'm not sure exactly what's up with that, except maybe its business-to-business commerce for the items listed on their website. At any rate, about once every month or 5 weeks, there's an early morning listing for a few Rossi lever guns. And twice now, I've had a rifle in my cart, and when I go to pay.... its already out of stock. Go back and look at the list of rifles, and one by one, they blink out to "out of stock" as the page is refreshed.

Well two things come to mind. First is that I'm not the only old guy shoppin at 4:30am, and I need to get up earlier!

As Mr. Zorg suggests in the Reloading Components For Sale thread, that he has been immensely helpful with, you should have your card info already to go in the retailers pay menu. That way it’s only clicking to get it paid for.

Further, are you sure they actually have the stock?
“Accidentally” stating you have a very popular rifle in stock is a good way to increase consumer traffic.

Must have just missed them by minutes. I hope you can snag one. I also do my shopping when I wake up early.:)

If it were me I'd be on the phone contacting them and hoping that maybe, just maybe.... a friendly voice on the other end would either agree to commit the next one they get for you or at least explain their inventory and sales routine... All bets are off if you're dealing with a weasel that's deliberately posting ghost inventory to increase sales..

Good luck, think good thoughts - and give 'em a call. Post up here what you learn, if anything. My guess if it's a scam inventory you won't be able to contact them by phone....

Yah, card was in hand. I wont let them store my card # online.... Literally, its all set, I hit enter and its a "sorry". I've gotten oh...maybe 8 guns from 'em over the years, no issues.
Stock is always a nebulous thing with B2B commerce. You watch an item for availability on multiple sites. It shows up at all the sites, and disappears from all the sites very close to the same time. What you are really "viewing" is distribution or other dealer inventory. They even have names for that....channel and out of channel.
Just gotta keep trying.

It does get frustrating. I got an email flyer a few years back about a special run of Ruger77's chambered for 358. I immediately logged on and, you guessed it, out of stock. I would have bought two.

I'm on a couple of email alert lists and my experience is similar. Much of what's listed in the emails is sold within minutes. It seems to me to be a great way of doing business for the seller!! Not so much for the buyer. But you learn to play by their rules and score one for yourself.

Had similar experiences with Bud's, with inventory, and prices, for no apparent reason, changing frequently.

Every once in a while the stars align and you get what you want, and at a good price.

Just got to keep trying and be prepared to purchase at weird hours.

I've been wanting a Primary Arms 2X prism sight...out of stock.
I put in to be notified.
They sent notification that it was in stock...at 3:48am. By the time I saw it at 6:30, OOS again.

The exact same experience looking for a PA 2x prism for my Arsenal.
Looked and tried to pounce for a few months. Its aggravating but.. what are ya gonna do?

Rossi ‘92s are popular rifles among cowboy action shooters. You might contact SASS clubs nearby, or visit some matches and catch something for sale.

Nate Kiowa Jones specializes in ‘92s. You might contact him:

Right now Steve's only selling CAS ready "slicked up" rifles, and asking more than I paid for my Winchester/Miroku.

I was looking for a Rossi M92 for years only to come up short every time. Either they were out of stock, priced way too high, or else I didn't have the necessary funds at the time. Finally one year I was making the early rounds at a local gun show and there was a used Winchester 94 I was looking at for a very nice price. Wanted to think about it for awhile and did some more looking and shopping when I found a dealer's table that had just the gun I wanted: a Rossi M92 carbine in just the right caliber: .45 Colt! It was used but like new in the box and the action was as smooth as silk! Didn't haggle too much as I was afraid someone else might come along and then I would have to get into a bidding war with someone! At the same show I also picked up a Beretta Stampede, also in .45 Colt and I quickly hurried home to enjoy my new found treasures!

The amount of email notifications for products waiting to return to in stock will be comical when things go back to normal.

Im not exactly keen for my credit card number being stored but having it saved in my google wallet does save a lot of time

My local gun shop had a beautiful Winchester 1892 .357 carbine in the shop the other day for $900. He does ship I believe but might not be what you're looking for
